This is an imprudent appointment, to be sure, but at least it resolves my longstanding uncertainty about whether nick’s twitter was a parody account.

Wow so you’re telling me everyone who cheered on the Iraq war is on board with this now too? And so are the people who opposed the Iran nuclear deal and killed it?

You’re kidding.

Who could have possibly predicted that “abundance” would immediately become a Trojan horse for right-wing ideas
Josh Barro: "When I look at policies in New York that stand in the way of Abundance, very often if you look under the hood, you eventually find a labor union at the end that's the driver"

I’m very excited to see what Kader Kohou can do in his 2nd year in this defense, his 2nd half of last year was really underrated

Not counting the Thanksgiving game that he played 9 snaps, his PFF grades* from weeks 10-12, 14-18:

Defense: 72.2 (20th)
Coverage: 75.1 (15th)

* players with 103 snaps

You can act on false conspiracy theories about the government, and violate numerous laws, and that is fine. But if you suggest that government is not dysfunctional, you will get fired from DOGE:

stop writing that he’s leaving DOGE without mentioning that just a few days ago the solicitor general told the United States Supreme Court that he is not part of DOGE
Editors, please assign a deep dive piece on the grave damage musk & doge have done to the United States, rather than how he’s feeling about it.

Not gonna keep posting the whole thing but this feels like one of the core sicknesses of mainstream media that got us here: The refusal of journalists to assess claims on the merits.

Yes, RFK Jr. "questions the system" like many on the left but he is also fucking wrong! That distinction matters!

This refusal to engage with the substance of what people are saying and whether it's actually true in favor of meta-arguments about free speech, bias, "outsider" status, etc has totally corroded mainstream political analysis into uselessness (at best). If anything it's making people less informed
"Oh so you like it when AOC rails against elites but you don't like it when RFK Jr. rails against elites?" is utterly brain dead and absolutely EVERYWHERE.

AOC is right that inequality is bad and RFK Jr is wrong that vaccines are bad. It's not hypocritical to like one of them and not the other!!!

This makes California the first blue state with a sports ban.

A lot of people went in on anti vaccines stuff for the most cynical reasons imaginable. We'll probably never know how many people they killed.
40% of Republicans say the COVID-19 vaccine has probably or definitely killed more people than the COVID-19 virus.

I am a Northwestern faculty impacted just how you describe. My research - including an active trial
of cancer / cardiac disease prevention, part of a large national network - has been frozen, despite a notice of award for our renewal. Year 6 of a 6 year study. We are completely in the dark.

Thread incoming.

When Tua first got here I don’t think he was anywhere close to ready to be the face of a franchise.

We are at a dangerous, dangerous moment in US history, where the President of the United States is threatening to send US citizens to be imprisoned by a foreign ally, and the foreign ally is saying it won't respect an US court orders to release people that it's holding.
REPORTER: You mentioned you're open to deporting individuals that aren't foreign aliens but aren't criminal to El Salvador. Does that include US citizens?

TRUMP: If they are criminals and hit people with baseball bats, if they rape 87 year old women, yeah. Yeah. That includes them. I'm all for it.

This isn't going to end until the judges start holding lawyers and DOJ officials in contempt and throwing them in jail.

Even that might not end it, but there's no point trying to delay the inevitable. They're just getting bolder and more destructive as they go.
NEW: DOJ doubles down on refusing to follow Judge Xinis's orders. Today's status report contains nothing new. It again fails to provide information about steps they're taking to bring Mr. Abrego back), and arguably violates her command that a declaration be made by someone with personal knowledge.
