Pretty sure white Americans as a whole haven’t apologized for being white since 1865.
No, New York Times, I'm pretty sure the man who got up on stage yesterday and said "we no longer have to apologize for being white" and who said America will always be a "christian nation" has firmly taken a side on bigotry.

When you’re of the Soviet Jewish ilk you have the menorah and your little елочка ready to go for Ded Moroz (the Soviet Santa replacement).

I’m laid up with the flu, but I had to peek my head out and say that this is *so* much worse than it seems.

And it’s already pretty fucking bad!

It's always interesting to ask women who feel this way, "At what point did feminism fail women?" Because most (most) like to vote, like wearing pants, like having a credit card. Their answers are usually steeped in racism, homophobia, xenophobia, and transphobia. Feminism for me, but not for thee.

The Vanity Fair photographer knew what he was doing. (I doubt I’m the first to notice this but it hasn’t graced my TL)

This is a photo from the Vanity Fair article. Notice how they have to arrange it so Stephen Miller is on the end, so it isn’t obvious that there is no reflection of him on the mirrored table.🧛

Amazing how many articles are just “I’m a white guy who didn’t get the promotion I wanted and the only answer to this problem that concerns every single one of us is to re-segregate the workplace”

The fact that it has become a completely normal part of the American lexicon (such that the DHS would tweet it out and the State Dept would propose an Office of Remigration) terrifies me because that means the ideologies that birthed the term are now viewed as politically legitimate/reasonable.

‘Remigration’ as a concept goes hand in hand with Great Replacement Theory (the white race is being imperiled via the immigration and social integration of non-white immigrants) and is part of an ideology that very fundamentally supports ethnic cleansing. These things are not separable.

Until recently, this term was basically exclusively used by two groups:
- bureaucrats and scholars describing people who voluntarily return to their original state
- FAR FAR right groups who believe ethnic intermingling is bad and countries should seek to limit it by expelling migrants

As a person who has been studying extreme far right ideologies for the last decade (and did a PhD on immigration) I find the entrance of “remigration” into the mainstream American political lexicon so profoundly disturbing

Whether it's an obscure adjunct professor posting that Charlie Kirk did some bad things or it's the president of the United States celebrating Rob Reiner's death, there's plenty of incivility on both sides.

If you’re telling Head Start programs they can’t say “disability”, “Black”, “female”, or “Tribal” in order to get funded—you don’t care about kids. Period.

This administration is attacking the very protections that keep children safe and supported. Our kids are not political props.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

He's also responsible for raising all the money that paid for bringing Hollingsworth v. Perry & even more importantly Bostic v. Schaefer, which created the circuit split that forced SCOTUS to take on Obergefell v. Hodges. The role he played in American marriage equality cannot be overstated.
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.
