Andrew might be 20 and make 100K, but that doesn’t buy enough self awareness to know you just admitted to wanting to date (and by extension, marry and reproduce with) someone who’s more like his mom.

Can confirm that they absolutely do not (institutionally, my department pretended people were being hired like it was the 90s) and this article is still fucking terrible.

The fact that it has become a completely normal part of the American lexicon (such that the DHS would tweet it out and the State Dept would propose an Office of Remigration) terrifies me because that means the ideologies that birthed the term are now viewed as politically legitimate/reasonable.

‘Remigration’ as a concept goes hand in hand with Great Replacement Theory (the white race is being imperiled via the immigration and social integration of non-white immigrants) and is part of an ideology that very fundamentally supports ethnic cleansing. These things are not separable.

Until recently, this term was basically exclusively used by two groups:
- bureaucrats and scholars describing people who voluntarily return to their original state
- FAR FAR right groups who believe ethnic intermingling is bad and countries should seek to limit it by expelling migrants
