American exceptionalism is what allowed authoritarianism to happen here.

Normal isn't coming back. This isn't merely a difficult few years ahead of us: it's the new normal.

In his 1957 filibuster, Strom Thurmond said "Negroes ... are not so well qualified to vote as are the white people.”

A Black senator just broke the record Thurmond set with that speech.

“People voted for Trump based on their recall of the 2017-2020 economy—stimmy and superdole included—and simply did not encounter and/or believe reporting about his plans to be a dictator” fits the available facts much better than “a plurality of Americans voted for Trump to be a dictator.”

This breaks my heart. We fought so hard to get EPA to look at environmental justice issues in an area of Birmingham called Collegeville hit, faced, massive health challenges. I’m sure there are similar areas all across the country. archive.epa.gov/epa/north-bi...

Kidnapping an activist and jailing him in the middle of the night is a brazen act of authoritarianism.

Punishing dissent by revoking legal status is a dangerous precedent to set.
NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

I am no longer able to donate myself (apparently I don't store enough iron to share!). But I'd be happy to share my experience of donating - where, what it's like, etc.

It's an easy way for most folks to give back and all it costs is some time and maybe a nap after.
Today is your semi irregular reminder that we are in a severe blood shortage in North America, and if you are able, please donate blood. This is especially important if you are of minority descent.
ANY blood type is needed, even "common" ones.
If you want help finding a docnation center, ask!

For the record, do I think a one-day boycott is going to make much of an economic impact? No. Do I think that a sort of "Baby's First Boycott," performative though it is, might be useful to make some folks aware of the impact of their economic power, and how it might be wielded politically? Maybe.
