Women historians have definitely made my work place better, and more dedicated to truth seeking about history.
I wish Douthat had followed up and asked Andrews what "areas of inquiry" have been "ruled out of bounds in history" because they are "too controversial" and lead historians away from "truth seeking."

I'm AOK with a primary challenger to him.
I'm done with this joker
Chuck Schumer's inability to say whether he voted for the Democratic nominee in a general election in his city is the final straw for @ryanlcooper.com.

“Tuesday’s election night was a resounding repudiation of those who insist that Democrats must cut their trans constituents loose in order to win elections.”
For @msnbc.com I wrote about how Tuesday's election gives Democrats the blueprint for overcoming Republican anti-trans attacks and how thus should settle all the talk about throwing trans people under the bus.

Opinion | Democrats’ election wins showed they don't need to hide their support for trans rights
Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

This is why Trump, silver spooned scion of a millionaire slum lord, won the who is a more authentic former McDonald's worker battle against Harris, an actual former McDonald's employee.
the best and most consistent use case i have seen for AI is making right wing influencers weepy with nostalgia for a sepia-toned past that they fever dreamed once when they saw an immigrant and blacked out from rage
mmmm my favorite mcdonald’s food, Dore, Caprer, and a side of Cchinges

Love the Power of History (Sherill and Mamdani), language and culture (Spanberger), and small liberal arts college (Bowdoin/Mamdani) education
The #1 lesson from yesterday’s blowout:
Humanities majors killed on the job market
1) Mamdani- Africana Studies
2) Spanberger -French
3) Sherill - Global History

We are in the midst of the 140 year anniversary of the three day reign of anti-Chinese terror in Tacoma (though that terror preceded and extended far after Chinese Tacomas were driven out by a mob led by the Tacoma mayor).

The Onions Exploded on his Ballistic Vest. (Not from The Onion).
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

And setting an example: don't throw trans people under the bus.

Listen up, Newsom, and the dem consultants.
Obama: "They never miss a chance to scapegoat minorities and blame DEI for every problem under the sun. You got a flat tire? Must be DEI. Your wife kicked you out? DEI. Who knew?"

"This administration has upgraded the earlier model, showing through word and action that it believes the shameful sides of America’s past were, in fact, good—even examples to follow today." Good piece on whitewash built up into a mighty toxic rollback wave...

Does the alien detection app contain a smidgen of kryptonite, just to make sure?
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

now they are throwing to the ground 67 year old guys training for a marathon.
This incident is spreading through Chicago running circles. A 67 year old man, driving back from a long run with his friends, is pulled from the car and thrown to the ground by ICE (or BP?) agents because he did... something.
