If I were on a jury, and the victim of a crime was an ICE agent, I would nullify. you can fill in the blanks of this sentence however you'd like. I'd nullify

I do have my fun calling it “Woke General” but I’ve also watched the first season in full five times bc even when characters are just straight reciting stats about unvaxxed mortality or nursing shortages they do so because they’re begging someone to care textually as much as extratextually
it’s a testament to how good The Pitt is (and how desperate America is for real wokeness) that you don’t even mind when they look 1 degree to the right of the camera and do a PSA about fent use or patriarchal violence or nursing shortages and safety. I’m 100% serious, it’s great

"what are we going to do with 20,000 ICE agents if we abolish ice" well to start with I think we should all literally spit on them in public for the rest of their lives

A 23 year old larping as a journalist made a misleading and inaccurate YouTube video that the administration full of chronically online shitposters used to justify the “largest immigration operation ever” and now someone is dead

I know it's not mainstream conventional wisdom but I think "Abolish ICE" is a perfectly reasonable response to this and you can get the public to buy in. Most people don't want masked murderous thugs roving their streets
MPR playing an eye witness account right now of ICE shooting directly through the windshield at her face and not giving her medical care for 10 minutes.

the thing about the literacy crisis in the US is that adults in this country largely don’t read. addressing the flaws in literacy education is important, but children need to see the adults in their lives reading for pleasure

It’s really hard to talk about something like reading or literacy rates because people react by talking about what’s personally preventing them from reading and defending themselves — I’m tired / I’m disabled — as if it’s a story about them and not about the larger society that’s being designed.

i’m probably going to finish Laura Kinsale’s Flowers from the Storm today as my first read of the year, and there’s just something so satisfying about seeing a romance writer hit a home run

Three million people live in Caracas, five million in the metro area. It's one of the densest cities in South America. Remember this in the morning when they try to spin this as anything other than a cold-blooded attack on a major civilian center.

Mamdani: Where else can you hear the sound of the steel pan, savor the smell of sancocho, and pay $9 for coffee on the same block? Where else could a Muslim kid like me grow up eating bagels and lox every Sunday?

Doctors Without Borders is also Hamas, just like Human Rights Watch are, like Amnesty International and indeed every aid and civil liberties organisation on earth that comments. Mercenaries firing machine guns at starving civilians scrambling for bags of flour though, that is just fine.
