I don't blame them. The US isn't safe for foreigners and foreign-coded people anymore.
I have had other colleagues from Europe tell me they simply will not attend conferences in the US for the foreseeable future because they no longer feel welcome. They have seen the stories of travelers detained and don't want to hand their social media over to the current administration for approval

I know my circles are pretty specific, but it really feels like more of Chicago is actively resisting on some level than not.
I'm in a neighborhood that has definitely seen fed activity, but not as much as others - and I still see whistles everywhere.

It isn’t visible and it be impossible to poll, but I’m starting to be convinced that at least 3.5% of Greater Chicago are participating in active civic resistance. The rapid responders, the people running food drives, the whistle parties, or just plain running outside when they hear whistles
