Listen.
Our right wing parties have been Obsessed with surveillance for the past 25 years, and it is HELL to have to live with their designs
Right now we have a majority left wing in parliament, but the right wing ministers and EU reps are back-dooring this in

Please take a moment to fight this
I cannot overstate just how awful this stupid fucking bill proposal is

- adding backdoors into encryption on OS level
- "sniff" every single message before it gets encrypted AND SAVE IT CENTRALLY
- let a goddamn hallucinating "AI" mark people as criminals

it needs to be stopped, post haste

An AI slop factory apparently tried to rewrite our article about AI not replacing workers en masse, but hit the paywall... so just summarised the paywall. If this is the robot that takes my job I'll be v embarrassed

I don't understand rich people who spend their money on yachts and partying. If I had the time and the money I'd spend it on classes to learn to sing, draw, paint, weave, make pottery, carve wood, all the random skills I do not currently have. Become a true renaissance man. That's the real flex.

WeTransfer just changed their TOS giving themselves permission to train AI on any content you transfer and produce derivative works based on content you transfer that they are allowed to monetize and you are not allowed payment for.

Stop using WeTransfer.

The first golden age of open source came from Incredibles optimism in new technology.
The second one is powered by spite, because every other software is now an unusable bloated mess and open source is the only alternative.

Just repeating it because some are repeating Microsoft's lies unquestioningly about them having to cut people to save money, etc.

Their gaming division was 26 *billion* USD in the black. They had just posted record revenue. They were swimming in money.

But Microsoft wants to invest *80bn* in AI.

I hate this timeline
Matt Turnbull, Executive Producer at Xbox Game Studios Publishing - after the Microsoft layoffs - suggesting on Linkedin that may maybe people who have been let go should turn to AI for help. He seriously thought posting this would be a good idea.

I've been using @kagi.com for several months now and not coming back. It's not that expensive and I'm quite regularly finding more interesting sources than I ever had with Google.
We've been waterboarded by advertisements for so fucking long that some of y'all have forgotten search was near perfect in 2018ish, and then Google switched their results algorithm to prioritizing ads and SEO keyword bloating.
i keep seeing people say that LLMs are good at search.

NO. WRONG.

You have just forgotten how good search used to be.

Google broke it's own flagship product, and so you are accepting a demented chatbot's half baked gishgallop because we no longer have functional web search.

The people who make deeply silly mods are braver than the troops and deserve more praise.

This mods adds denim jeans to everything in old DOS classic Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. EVERYTHING. Not just characters, but crates, powerups, etc.

Similar levels of commitment to silly as Jimbo's Big Naturals.
