We won!

Am thrilled to say that the High Court has refused EHRC's Landlord's application for an injunction against protestors outside the EHRC's offices.

Reasons to follow later.
In mindblowing news, the EHRC's landlord, it seems at the EHRC's behest, is trying to injunct protestors from protesting outside the EHRC's offices.

We will be in Court today making an emergency attempt to resist the injunction. www.crowdjustice.com/case/protect...

Along with a man and a woman who are trans, and someone who is intersex, we are suing the EHRC and the Equalities Minister in respect of the disgraceful and unlawful EHRC guidance.

In line with our transparency principles we are publishing the full 32 page legal letter. goodlaw.social/2ihj

@goodlawproject.org new guidance is great but it should be positive action under s158, not positive discrimination

This letter from Tony Vaughan KC, the MP for Folkestone, is the clearest articulation I’ve seen on the flaws of the interim update from the EHRC. The section titled ‘Legal Incoherence’ hits the nail on the head.

Saw an article on here recently asking if we should worry about AI suffering. Think that skips a step. Can AI experience anything at all? Or, to put it another way (and with apologies to Nagel) "what is it like to be a ChatGPT?".

So, of course, I asked ChatGPT what it had to say about this.

There is zero legal basis to make that pronouncement. None at all. There is no moral basis to say anything of the sort. This is utterly reprehensible.

The court judgment only focused on the rights of trans people who hold GRCs.

This is a massive step beyond that - this is a Labour Government introducing a Bathroom Bill by the back door.

Which would make the current Labour government worse on LGBTQIA+ rights than any this millennium:
Bridget Phillipson here, confirming that the government’s position is that trans women must always use men’s bathrooms when out in public.

AFAICS there is **nothing** in yesterday's UK SC ruling that licenses or justifies this change of policy by the British Transport Police. (Though clearly the ruling is creating a space for all kinds of horrible behaviour, bullying, and poltical opportunism.)

If a GRC no longer changes your legal sex for the EA2010 surely the UK no longer has a proper legal mechanism for changing gender. Back to the days before the GRA and, as per ECtHR in Goodwin, in violation of the Art. 8 right to respect for private life.
April 16, 2025 at 12:12 PM
This is wild. The GRA was brought in to address Art. 8 human rights issues identified by the ECtHR in Goodwin. Only had a quick read of the SCt judgement so far, but I can't see any consideration of whether this result could undermine that position. Am I missing something?

Absolute solidarity with trans and non-binary individuals today. This is another blow to being recognised and accepted. It does nothing to protect anyone, but it does make lives harder and rights at more risk, for trans and non-binary individuals, yet again.

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.
