I recently left Facebook after almost 17 years, making this my only active social media presence. It's mostly a relief, don't get me wrong, but I suppose I should be a bit more proactive about promoting my work. To that end, if you dig pulpy fun horror with a literary heart, I think you'll like...

EVERY CRAWLING, PUTRID THING “It would be accurate to say that Busboom’s fiction is a love letter to schlocky, neon horror, peppered with sticky-sweet nostalgia and loving luridity. It would, however,...

It aired last night, went viral and #NBC was subject of #Trumps rant to fire #SethMeyer.

Several 🔗 are now unavailable but this is a clip I’d saved.

I went for a run (5k in 35min!) and then did my typical thing of finding a bunch of chores that needed doing in order to delay actually sitting down to write. So, I haven't made much headway in the WIP, but my gutters are clean, the leaves are off the driveway, and my lawn is mowed one last time.
Had one of those 4AM epiphanies about my next WIP (actually an old semi-abandoned WIP revisited/revamped), noted it down before going back to bed, and now I'm up again with fresh coffee and a day-old donut, vacillating between going for a run or diving straight into the story.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

This is the facility that I and many others have been protesting. We’ve been hit, thrown, gassed, and shot with pepper bullets but none of that holds a candle to what is being done to people *in* the actual facility.

Read this thread. Don’t look away. Keep your eyes and the pressure on Broadview.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Fuck Meta, fuck Zuckerberg, delete your accounts and live happier, freer lives. Text, call, or email your friends and family. It'll make each interaction more intentional and therefore meaningful. Hell, you could even write a letter once in a while!
“But I’ll just ignore them and use FB to stay in touch with family and friends.”

No, you won’t. Meta regularly moves the buttons for accessing your human connections to defeat your muscle memory and force you to spend time looking at ads. Then they use higher “engagement time” to sell more ads.
On average Meta shows its platforms’ users an estimated 15 billion “higher risk” scam advertisements every day.

(Meta earns about $7 billion in annualized revenue from this category of scam ads each year.) www.reuters.com/investigatio...

Reports of ICE ads on #Spotify were noted in early October. People began calling for boycotts immediately.

Now, nearly a month later Spotify is seeing major losses.

And we can do ever BETTER. 👏👏👏

Happy Birthday, @orringrey.com! I'll be celebrating by reading this little darling tonight with a pumpkin beer (I also bought a couple of his books, and you should too!).
There are also still a (very) few copies of the STARLIGHT THEATER HALLOWEEN DOUBLE-FEATURE available, featuring two stories (and a wraparound) by me, and art by @patricbates.bsky.social:

Describing the novella I just submitted as "Ray Harryhausen's Mysterious Island by way of Mario Bava" doesn't feel quite as attention-grabby as "The Island of Doctor Moreau meets Jurassic Park" but it does feel a bit more accurate.
