All but three House Republicans just voted for Trump's tariffs. The procedural measure, which preemptively surrenders congressional power to stop Trump's tariffs, passed with all Democrats voting no. This was the vote count:

It’s easy for Trump to respond to talking heads and proclamations. He just talks to media and posts on socials.
It’s hard for him to have control of the details of legislation beyond Exec Orders, because they take time, legal understanding and nuance. Which he has zero interest in.

I'd like to note the outrage of overediting a Nobel laureate in his area of expertise, and that a lot of writers (including me) have had horrible experiences of overediting in the legacy media: not just changing language but meaning and often values. Making your voice and views into theirs.

This is exactly the kind of chaos caused by Stephen Miller's poorly-written Muslim Ban; it was an executive order written by a guy who didn't know the details well enough to know the ramifications of the phrasing, so people with green cards got detained at airports.
