Why Democrats need to get over their shutdown crackup — and fast
The party has a chance as soon as next month to exploit Republican divisions on its No. 1 issue. But that will require an end to the current fury.

It's Ford Madox Ford, not "Maddox." Check your spelling if you're trying to be a snob.

And I read "The Good Soldier" last year, no need to read it again.
you are arguing about "literature" and high art , a la say Ford Maddox Ford, with a guy who is reading HP Lovecraft ?

really ?

I used to wonder why early sci-fi writers were so obsessed with meal pills, until I saw what the average diet looked like, particularly for a working man living alone. Eating well meant your landlady leaving out cold cuts of ham (and not necessarily having a fridge to keep them in)
Cookbooks of the 1940s and 50s read like tones of Lovecraftian horror today.

I can and no government can stop me.
Dave, you can’t count a book as read if it was an audio book. You didn’t read it you listened to it. Two fundamentally different ways to ingest media. We as a country, need to stop people from saying they “read” 50 books this year when they actually listened to them. Absolute fraudulent behavior.

At TPM's 25th anniversary event, staff and alums reflected on 25 years of US politics, and how we always believed the fringe extremists were the driving force of the American right rather than the titular Republican party.

What happens after the failed shutdown vote today? “Many of us, including myself, are advocating for sticking around through Veterans Day," said Sen. Tillis

But it's not clear if that will move the needle. “Democrats have got to remain firm,” says Sen. Sanders

To the extent there's a legal argument for Trump's tariffs, it goes like this: A law gives the president some additional powers in the event of an emergency. He says there's an emergency, and it's not up to courts to determine if that's right, it's up to him.

Johnson isn't even bothering with that.
He's not even using the national emergency argument!
