It really pays to remind ourselves frequently that this whole immigration "crisis" is made up out of whole cloth. There was no emergency, danger or problem, only a demagogue stirring up racist grievances for political advantage.

btw: it's totally fine to bitch on bluesky about how bad everything is. But it means nothing if you aren't also out in your community trying to make it better in ways that you can.

Do the work or STFU while the rest of us do it for you.
Hilarious to be receiving EXCITED texts from people I work with in homeless outreach in our community about Nithya announcing her run for mayor.

Better tell them she doesn't pass the purity test of the leftists who do nothing but sit on their ass and bitch on Bluesky about how bad everything is!
Oh no! Some far left bluesky users are mad about this because she's not far left enough. Even though she'd be the most progressive mayor we've ever had, doesn't take corporate money, etc.

Some people just don't want to believe better things are possible because it would crush their victimhood.

Perhaps it was coincidental timing, but nothing underscores the collapse of the Washington Post like firing most of the Pulitzer prize winning #climate reporters the very same day as their opinion pages publishes a BS screed by climate misinformer Bjorn Lomborg.

A paper released yesterday suggests that an increase in UK winter rainfall can be partially attributed to anthropogenic warming, with roughly a 7% increase per 1ºC of local warming - this is more than what global climate models tend to anticipate (mean is around 4%).

Jeff Bezos took over the Washington Post Editorial Board and turned it into a mouthpiece for pro-corporate, pro-billionaire propaganda.

Now, WaPo is laying off hundreds of *real* journalists — including the reporter covering Amazon.

No excuse for UK newspapers, notably The Times, to still be ignorant of this..
During the press conference, officials appeared to take the inscriptions literally, to the extent they ascribed meaning to them at all. But the four messages apparently written by the alleged shooter instead seem to invoke a variety of memes and video game references.

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

I have PIP and a full-time job. I would not have a full-time job without PIP
Stephen Kinnock is lying. People don't lose PIP when they get a job, its not an out of work benefit & plenty of people on PIP work

Kinnock knows this. What he's doing is part of a wider govt strategy to paint disabled people as shirkers & scroungers stealing from working people

Petition: Commission a public inquiry into the impact of the UK exiting the European Union
Given that it has stated its aim of growing the UK economy, we think the Government needs to quantify the effects of exiting the European Union as soon as possible by setting up an inquiry.
