Let's stop pretending that the billionaire media, endlessly attacking the BBC, has the slightest interest in balance, impartiality and accuracy. They won't be happy until the BBC is more rightwing than Vlad the Impaler. And then it still won't be enough.

The whole “if everyone is mad at us we must be getting it right” attitude within the #BBC is so misguided…because everyone will also be mad at you if one side are disingenuous bad faith actors you constantly and fruitlessly try to placate and the other side are furious about that fact…

The period where the IDF were firing machine guns at people trying to pick up bags of flour was one of the most despicable things I’ve seen in this country: every day for weeks, people behaving like something confusing and hard to understand was happening, because they couldn’t say what they saw.

Why centrism is ultimately a sign of failure and a moribund intellectual wasteland…
4.
Its central mantra - “evolution not revolution” - sounds reassuring. But when used by government, “evolution” usually means no change to power. Continuity is recast as virtue; questioning the foundations becomes irresponsibility.

This! It’s is rampant inequality that means the rich can afford to pay much more of the overall tax burden than they currently do, but if we reduced that inequality then a larger proportion would be paid by lower wealth or income deciles.
If you earn £1m you take home over a half of it. Having over half a million pounds put in your bank account each year is not a burden.
Share out the income more equally, remove the burden of low pay, and you automatically bring more equality to the tax system.
Poverty is the real burden, not tax.
