This week, I once again pressed the government to amend the Road Traffic Act to include cats.

Every day, hundreds of cats are hit on our roads.

A quick change to the law would compel drivers to report collisions, giving owners closure around accidents and saving feline lives.

17,000 people gave blood at Brixton Blood Donor Centre during its first year.

Fantastic progress! We still urgently need more Black donors to come forwards and give blood to treat rising sickle cell cases.

Please consider making an appointment!

There is still a significant gap in the government's Warm Homes Plan, published this week, around upgrades to privately rented homes.

We must ensure that landlords who receive public money to upgrade their properties cannot cash in by hiking rents and kicking tenants out of their homes.

Good to join Deputy London Mayor Kaya Comer-Schwartz on a visit to the Beth Centre in Stockwell, which supports women impacted by the criminal justice system in our area.

Great to meet staff and service users to better understand what a trauma-informed approach to rehabilitation looks like.

Many small businesses in my constituency have told me how the abrupt removal of Covid support measures cut them off before they had a hope of recovery.

In any future crisis, we must ensure that similar lifelines do not end with such a cliff-edge.

Pleased to add my name to this cross-party letter calling on the government to deliver compensation to the WASPI women.

Ministers have rightly acknowledged the injustice they suffered and apologised.

They must now act to remedy it.

Very concerned by the Syrian government's mounting campaign against Kurds in the country, killing many and displacing 155,000 civilians.

These are the people who led the fight against ISIS. Our government must do all it can to prevent further displacement and loss of life.

The confirmed membership of Trump's new organisation is a roll call of war criminals, tyrants and human rights abusers.

Britain should play no part in this blatant attempt to undermine international norms, multilateral diplomacy and the UN.

Please consider contributing to help drive much-needed improvements to the system.

Thames Water's creditors want permission to pollute for the next 15 years.

Instead of allowing them to put shareholders' interests before their customers and the environment, the company should be placed into special administration.

We need public ownership now.

At £1,214, the UK child citizenship fee remains one of the highest in Europe.

Many kids with the right to citizenship miss out because their families cannot afford it.

It was great to meet with Lambeth Citizens to discuss our ongoing campaign to reduce these fees.

The last government failed sickle cell patients.

Now the Sickle Cell Day Unit at the Royal London Hospital faces trial closure.

This week, I asked ministers to deliver a national strategy for specialised sickle cell treatment.

Great to be on the picket line at Lambeth College this morning with @ucu.org.uk members as they push for fair pay and action on unmanageable workloads.

Further education has long been neglected, with staff seeing some of the worst pay cuts in the education sector.

I've written to Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association and Crabtree about heating and hot water issues at Darcus Howe Apartments, ongoing since December.

This situation is totally unacceptable. They must restore heating for residents without further delay.

As we move into 2026, Jamaica is slipping off the agenda — but the impact of Hurricane Melissa remains.

Nearly 4,640 have signed the petition for UK support.

Each One Bring One: share, sign, and help keep Jamaica on the agenda.

Concerning to hear the Stockwell Delivery Office on Wynne Road will be open for just a few hours each day.

Stockwell residents deserve a better service than this, and I have written to Royal Mail to demand an explanation for these poor opening hours.

With sickle cell anaemia now the fastest growing genetic condition in the country, we need more capacity, not less.

Closing the Sickle Cell Day Unit means delayed care, worse health outcomes, and more pressure on the NHS.

Please sign and share the petition below.

The attack on Venezuela and the kidnap of its President was a blatant breach of international law.

Threats towards Colombia and Greenland show the US is willing to violate it again.

The UK must call it for what it is. Staying silent only invites other leaders to follow suit.

Joy to the world! Wishing a Merry Christmas to everyone in Clapham & Brixton Hill and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who works for our community year-round, especially those working in our public services over the festive season.

Getting into the festive spirit earlier this month at the St Mary’s RC Primary Christmas Fair.

Great to celebrate with staff, students and parents from the school community.

Thank you to the PSA and school staff for all the work that went into putting it on.

Ahead of Christmas, I paid a visit to Royal Mail's Brixton Delivery Office to meet some of the postal workers who make Christmas happen 🎁 📮

Thanks for all you do to deliver for local residents, especially over the incredibly busy festive period 🙏🏾

Thank you to everyone who donated sleeping bags this month.

We've now delivered these to Ace of Clubs, who were grateful to receive them.

Unfortunately, there is an ongoing need for sleeping bags for rough sleepers. If you have one to donate, please do take it to them.

I recently visited City Heights Academy for an interview with student leaders from Years 7–10.

They asked wide‑ranging, probing questions on everything from the economy and migration to mental health, climate breakdown and how young people can drive change.

Announcing the winner of this year's Christmas Card Competition 🏆

Thank you again to all the young artists who entered and made it so tricky to pick a winner!

Congratulations to Nico, 9, from Corpus Christ Primary, whose festive drawing of Brixton Road is my official 2025 Christmas Card.

Thank you to the team at Anthony Nolan for showing me around the labs to find out more about stem cell donor matches and discuss recruitment challenges.

With declining sign‑ups since COVID, especially among minority ethnic donors, boosting uptake is vital.
