After this quote is a bit of framing Pritzker has notably been using more: he goes through and names how "we can't rely" on all three branches of the federal government to have any loyalty to the Constitution. The implication of who else that leaves in the American system of government isn't subtle.
Pritzker: What's at stake here is free speech. It's our constitution and our way of life. Do we really want the president intimidating people, organizations to get others fired? People ought to be standing up and speaking out.

I’m witnessing the deliberate starvation of Gaza’s children – why is the world letting it happen? | Nick Maynard
A permanent ceasefire, the free and safe flow of aid, and the lifting of the blockade are needed now – all could be achieved with political will, says UK surgeon Nick Maynard

The 14th Street Busway has been a smashing success: faster commutes, fewer crashes, calmer streets.

So why is Eric Adams blocking a similar plan for 34th Street?

i am once again saying that if you allow polling to define rights, you don't have any real rights at all
the problem with the "trans sports participation is a loser / 80-20 issue" framing is that it ignores how it got that way. it didn't just happen out of nowhere. It's been a 5+ year campaign by Republicans to make it an 80-20 issue, and noone fought back.

Really needed to read this right now, I've been doomscrolling a ton lately and it hasn't helped anything. Gonna log off for a while and call my rep + senators (even though they suck), then find some tangible things to do.
