The character 'Noah' asking James Mardsen to jump up and down on his bed while he's 'soaking' with a girl is one of the funniest bits I've ever seen on a T.V. show... 😂

I understand that a lot of folks have been misled by fear-mongering and powerful regressive voices but it’s still astonishing to me that so many have fallen for the idea that oppressively policing other people’s gender identity and expression could in any way be part of an enlightened future.

The advent of free worldwide publishing for all, and the ensuing need for publishers to outcompete all other publishers for attention, has turned public communication into an endless tournament to discover the most potent emotional payloads that can be embedded in media.

The winner: toxic nostalgia

NO ONE FORMS POLITICAL IDEAS FROM WHAT THEY SEE IN THE WORLD.

THEY FORM POLITICAL IDEAS FROM WHAT THEY HEAR FROM OTHER PEOPLE.

There are many, many, many important implications of this!!

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

Dave, you can’t count a book as read if it was an audio book. You didn’t read it you listened to it. Two fundamentally different ways to ingest media. We as a country, need to stop people from saying they “read” 50 books this year when they actually listened to them. Absolute fraudulent behavior.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

"V for Vendetta" remains one of my favorite movies of all time and feels wholly unique underrated every passing year.
I get it, that some of the events are outlandish, but the core themes... acting... dialogue... I cry every year watching this masterpiece of cinema.

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

What Yglesias has stumbled upon, without realizing it, is that in the modern information environment, Democrats have very poor control over their own identity.

Democrats are defined not by their own rhetoric, but by the rhetoric of their enemies. This is not a problem a policy agenda can fix.

I think every Democrat should be shown this chart and required to explain why any policy solution would convince voters in this environment, and if they cannot, give three steps to fix the media environment, and if they cannot, be forced to resign their seat
