The NYT is not an excitable puppy that can be trained through disciplined inattention, nor is it a marginal outlet that should be deprived of oxygen. When it publishes bigotry, bias, or pseudoscience, it is right and good and normal to point that out and counter false claims.

Man, Bluesky sucks. It’s like a cross between 2011 Tumblr and 2009 Twitter with none of the fun parts. Everyone’s either scolding you for some perceived slight, trying to sell you porn, or just desperate for attention.

By the way, the fact that the term "carpetbagger" has become a slur is the same problem. Carpetbaggers were Northerners who traveled to the Reconstruction-era South in order to teach formerly enslaved people to read and write. They risked their lives to do so. Carpetbaggers were heroes.
The term "Luddite" as a pejorative synonym for "technophobe" was a technocrat PR coup; that's not what Luddites were about. They were a labour movement fighting to give workers control over technologies which were advancing w/o oversight and rapidly automating them out of their jobs. Sound familiar?

One thing nobody tells you about developing a serious heart condition and becoming legally disabled in your 40s is how great shuffling around the house in slippers and lounge pants all day like an old man is. It’s all the fun of being elderly with slightly less joint pain and incontinence.

I wonder what the penalty is if a human driver hit a pedestrian, dragged them 20 feet, then lied about the events to make them look not-at-fault.
Would it be a temporary suspension, along with a step-by-step guide to get their license back?
