And you are?

And it’s nice that you believe that.
February 4, 2024 at 10:17 PM
Yeah totally. Kinda weird you’re calling yourself out like this though, and I’m not sure what it has to do with me.

Biden’s been a conservative for his entire career and I’ve been watching the Dems do nothing but move right for decades, it would be pretty tough for them to move towards center without also moving left.
February 4, 2024 at 10:08 PM
For Biden to move towards the center, he’d have to move left. Dude’s been a conservative for as long as I’ve been aware of him, and for as long as I can remember the Dems’ only “course correction” wether they win or lose is to just keep moving right.

Yeah, just look at the “popular op-ed writer to Substack grifter” pipeline. People like Bari Weiss who couldn’t tolerate even the mildest editorial oversight because it got in the way of pandering to their reactionary fans.
February 4, 2024 at 9:57 PM
They’re acting like NYT op-ed writers are fringe pundits who actually do thrive on attention like Ben Shapiro, and not highly influential people with a direct line to the brains of Liberal America™️.
February 4, 2024 at 9:52 PM
People in the replies are saying “just share stories from journalists you respect instead” like they’re telling someone who does nothing but dump Taylor Swift to talk about music they actually like for once.
February 4, 2024 at 9:49 PM
They think the likes of Stephens and Paul are speaking objective facts, but all they do is spout opinions. But those op-eds can and have been very influential especially when it comes to selling bad ideas to Americans.
February 4, 2024 at 9:45 PM
The NYT isn’t a Twitter troll or a clickbait website, it’s one of the biggest news outlets on the planet that’s read and trusted by millions. A big part of it is their op-ed section, because people don’t know the difference between journalism and editorializing.
February 4, 2024 at 9:43 PM
Burying your head in the sand because you don’t want to call out bullshit when you see it is fine, but don’t act like you’re on some higher moral plane than the people calling out the bullshit you choose to ignore.
February 4, 2024 at 9:40 PM
“Just ignore it” is good corrective advice for someone with a puppy that begs at the dinner table. Not so much for correcting the editorial behavior of the most-read and somehow still trusted and influential publications on the planet.
February 4, 2024 at 9:33 PM
You can tell some people grew up believing “just ignore bullies and they’ll go away because all they want is attention” was sage advice.

What the hell are you talking about
February 4, 2024 at 8:53 PM
I grew up in an area where like half the population hunts and a state with one of the highest numbers of guns per capita, and traditionally it’s enjoyed a very low rate of gun violence and accidents. Sadly that’s changed a bit in recent years.

“Be nice to your little brother or a demon will cut your toes off and eat them like potatoes.”

The great thing about those safety courses is I heard “always do this or you might kill/maim yourself or others” so many times I started practicing good trigger discipline with my Super Soakers and shit.
February 4, 2024 at 4:59 PM
My mom hates them so I couldn’t have so much as a BB gun, and my dad figured “what better way to teach him guns aren’t toys than teaching him how to responsibly handle real firearms?”
February 4, 2024 at 4:57 PM
I developed a fascination with firearms as a kid in a way that concerned my mom, so one summer my dad signed me up for a training and safety course at the local gun club.
