"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor of the House of Representatives, and we know that's the case."

This is a flat-out 100% lie from @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and he knows it. Impeachment resolutions are privileged, they can force a vote at any time.
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

The majority of the 8 dem senators who voted to fold on the shutdown represent about 6 million people.

Total.

Not just their Democratic constituents, the entire population of NH, NV, and Maine combined.

The basic structure of the senate is a huge problem that has once again screwed us.

This is also the story of the Biden admin. We did our part to get trump out and get Biden a bare majority in both houses. Biden didn’t do his part to send Trump to jail for all the crimes he did. Bc god forbid you look like you’re “politicizing” our democracy against the guy who tried to end it.

Either he can’t keep them in line or he orchestrated and approved this. The result is the same: he has to go. He should’ve been gone months ago.
Chuck Schumer must be replaced as leader since he cannot keep his caucus in line.
America is in the midst of a Republican-made health care crisis—a crisis so severe, so urgent, and so devastating for American families that I cannot support a continuing resolution that fails to address it.

I am voting NO.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

It’s striking and inexplicable that Senate Dems crumbled following decisive signals from the American electorate that Trump’s policies are deeply unpopular and Americans expect the Democrats to fight Trump and Republicans over healthcare, affordability, & be a check on his chaos.

This is the one thing Schumer took away from the last showdown, just don’t vote for it yourself
Anyone who believes that the Senators who voted for the non-deal did so without Schumer’s consent while he votes no for show is gullible & naive. You either do this with a plan and exit strategy or you don’t do it at all. There is a disconnect between Dem voters & Sen leadership.

Quick reminder as certain dems once again fold instead of risk hardball negotiations, in 2012 Harry Reid, a politically effective leader, had a plan to repeal all the bush tax cuts and then pass new tax cuts more favorable to the non-rich. This plan was called “going over the fiscal cliff”

I think tonight shows why “moderate to win elections” is a real risk

the big divide in the Dem caucus, as many have noted, has been less moderate vs progressive than fight versus don’t fight

but it’s not a coincidence that basically everyone in the “don’t fight” camp is a moderate

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

OK, so this is going to be tough to hear, but it needs to be said.

Now that Trump has been enjoined from sending *any* NG to Oregon, ICE is going to go gangbusters in Oregon, dialing everything up to 1000%.

Because they need riots. They need someone punching an ICE officer.

The Right thought that now that they'd "allowed" one of "Those People" to be elected, that Blacks and minorities would have to shut up.
