I always find the plethora of articles about how to have fun in Dry January without alcohol both interesting and sad. Do we not know how to have fun unless we’re drinking?

2025 goals
Let them be mad.
Let them judge you.
Let them misunderstand you.
Let them gossip about you.
Let them ignore you.
Let them be right.
Let them doubt you.
Let them hate you.
Let them run your name in the ground.
Let them make you out to be the villain.

But never let them make you question your worth.

As a lover of all things spreadsheets, I’m reposting this so that I can find it again. This might be my January project. 😃
I have a spreadsheet on my phone for a similar purpose, color coded so things will turn yellow or red as the date passes. It's been a game changer!

And if I sit with my grocery receipt and add in new things right when I get home, it stays pretty up to date.

Just from a personal standpoint, I am in a much better place now than I was a year ago. I’m no longer in an awful relationship that was going nowhere, I’ve started taking care of myself again, I surround myself with people who make me feel good, I have peace.

I hadn’t thought of this. But it’s a good point!
You know why I love reading? These days it’s one of the few respites from being constantly advertised to.

Last week I posted about how much it annoys me that people *insist* Frodo and Sam MUST be gay because they're so close

Today I want to talk about this more & how it relates to our society's general devaluation of friendship

Based on the movies; I haven't read LoTR in 20 years

Just finished one of the happier Christmas traditions in my family. Watching A Muppet Family Christmas. It has the muppets, the Sesame Street gang AND the fraggles!

Love it when bookshops or libraries arrange their books appropriately...

Everyone seems to think the Muppets are wonderful but I think it’s notable that Michael Caine, famously one of the nicest men in Hollywood and a good judge of character, never worked with them again after Muppet Christmas Carol

Uhhh. Yep.
This is... actually a fairly reasonable takeaway from this year.

My mother in law Cathy Cade was a lesbian feminist photographer who documented social justice movements in the Bay Area.

We are going through some prints for her obituary and I just found the most lesbian image I have ever seen.

+ the yarn I buy to make myself winter apparel but then hangs out in drawers until I actually get to it.

Or maybe that’s just me.
It costs a lot to live in a cold climate. The price of well insulated housing, heating, the down filled Canada Goose parka and winter scarf, hats, mitts, boots, hockey equipment, skates, skis, road salt and sand, winter tires, 4 wheel/all wheel drive, de-icer. What did I miss?

There’s so much awful news these days. But here’s something amazing and I love it. And it’s at my local school district.

One of my current things is to get back into food prep and cooking and, hopefully, fueling my body with things that don’t make me feel gross. To that end, today I made a veg barley soup in the crockpot that’s tasty. Some in the fridge for later this week, and some in the freezer for another week.

I was definitely debating with a friend earlier about whether the “keep the chance you filthy animal” movie clip is in the first or second Home Alone movie. It turns out it’s in both! See we were both right.

I don’t know about the rest of y’all, but I listen to some excellent music.

This tweet is about me.
I buy a book the same way I buy a bottle of wine: do I like the little picture on the front, do I like the little blurb on the back, and does it look like it’ll &#% me up for $12

Reposting so that I can hopefully find this later. I’m always a fan of a Pride and Prejudice retelling.
How fun to be included in this BuzzFeed collection of Pride and Prejudice reimaginings along with @tirzahprice.bsky.social @jcpeterson.bsky.social and many other talented writers. Take inspiration for your TBR pile here: www.buzzfeed.com/briannamcfad... #prideandprejudice

Y’all. I just can’t get over all the things available on Hoopla.
Graphic novels? Yep!
Audio books? Yep!
Cookbooks? Also, yep!

These are just the things I’m interested in. So far. I’m sure more will be noted later. 😃

Yay, @ypsilibrary.org!

Yep!
I get home, I take off my thick outdoor jacket and put on my thin indoor jacket, then I take off my nice outdoor shoes and put on my around-the-house shoes, and oh, okay, I suddenly understand why Mr. Rogers did that every episode.
