Stopped writing sentences. Stopped winning awards. Stopped making damn tasty chicken soup. Eventually realized I've been depressed. Lassoing the horse so I can get back on.

We're just hours away from the end of the year, and I wanted to suggest some of my favorite nonprofits, if you have the ability to donate.

First of all, please consider contributing to @motherjones.com, which produces fearless, hard-hitting accountability journalism (and also keeps me employed)

If you see items in a black box like this on the Amazon app (presumably similar on desktop), do NOT use Amazon to purchase. Go to the artist's site directly to see what they actually have, buy more easily, and not support this garbage concept that big corps can scrape whatever they want.

Got this fantastically clever Christmas gift. It's a dedicated algorithm free music player that you can carry around without the distractions of your phone, and it can hold thousands of songs without needing an internet connection. The UI is so simple anyone can manage it. Fantastic

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.
