They do incredible reporting on farming and midwestern issues. Like ProPublica (also a fave that I support monthly), but more geographically focused.

No organization receives more criticism than @aclu.org. But it's unimaginable where we'd be without them. They've protected immigrants from appalling govt. abuses. And their decision to defend the NRA's free speech rights led to one of the most important precedents protecting us all from Trump.

Yes, @thefireorg.bsky.social has done some of the most important work defending journalists and everyone else from attacks on free speech by Trump, his supporters *and* his enemies. Some folks complain that too much of their money comes from wealthy conservatives. This is your chance to change that.

I've been reading @retractionwatch.com for years. It's a groundbreaking site that is depressing as hell, constantly reminding us what a mess science — and science journalism — often is. It's also perhaps the most influential source urging science to fix itself, but RFK destroys science for good

Some other nonprofit news outlets I like:

@boltsmag.org is an incredible combination of criminal justice and election coverage. And their election-night cheat sheet is an incredible tool for anyone who wants to know every race they should care about

We're just hours away from the end of the year, and I wanted to suggest some of my favorite nonprofits, if you have the ability to donate.

First of all, please consider contributing to @motherjones.com, which produces fearless, hard-hitting accountability journalism (and also keeps me employed)

This is, to say the least, a concerning argument.
Smith says Trump's claims that he won the election were not protected free speech because they were intneded to target a government function. "There is no historical analog for what President Trump did in this case."

NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
