Our national science & research agency is now facing more job cuts than under Tony Abbott

Call on the Albanese Govt to fund the scientists & research we need to tackle big issues we face from climate to food security and everything in between

This is obscene.

The challenges facing the nation means we should be scaling up CSIRO, not cutting it to shreds.

While we are sending billions to the US for nuclear shipyards, our science and industrial base at home is falling apart for lack of funds and direction.

Appalling! CSIRO was and should be a beacon for Australian scientific discovery across all fields, not just those that support profits for the private sector.

New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

So now Australia will be making F35 fighter jet parts for Saudi Arabia. A country that Amnesty says ignores people’s basic human rights, restricts their freedoms and inflicts severe punishment. The regime also kills dissenters. No one even asked us.

Likely gifted 2 terms, but just spinning the wheels.

"No Labor govt since [ #TheDismissal] has dared to have a suite of policies as progressive"

The do-nothing Albanese govt presides over an increasingly REgressive status quo.

Poverty, housing stress, poorer health and educational outcomes for many. Greater wealth & privilege for the few.
One of the most damaging and enduring aspects of the Dismissal, fifty years ago today, was its poisoning of the electorate against the Whitlam government, ensuring that it would lose the subsequent election and creating fear of progressive government.
