"The ECHR was created in the wake of World War 2. Those creating it knew the dangers of extreme ideology better than anyone...To claim it is “outdated” is to ignore the reasons why it was created in the first place, the protections it provides."

Starmer is ignoring why the ECHR was created.
Today is #InternationalHumanRightsDay, and also the day when UK and EU leaders discuss weaken the rights of people fleeing war and persecution.
If the European Convention on Human Rights is to be reformed, it must be to strengthen it, not undermine it.

🚨BREAKING🚨

MPs have voted to PASS our bill to establish a UK-EU customs union.

The Prime Minister must now listen to his own MPs, drop his self-imposed red lines and finally go for proper growth through an ambitious trade deal with the EU.

Interesting that the BBC will call National Rally "Far Right" (in an article about Bardella meeting Farage) - when they would never use that term for Reform. Their policies are very similar. If anything Reform's are more authoritarian.

The conflation of "foreign criminals" and "illegal migrants" is disgusting.

Vile when some people don't have a safe route to flee from the utter detestation & brutality of war.

It's all grim enough without the Labour Government pushing further misinformation.

Today's customs union vote is entirely symbolic, it's true. But what does it symbolise that no one is now arguing *for* Brexit?

BREAKING: The Lib Dems 10-minute rule bill to rejoin the customs union has just passed!

After a 100-100 tie the deputy speaker followed convention and cast the deciding vote in favour.

It’s unlikely to get government time so probably won't progress - but indicates strength of feeling on this issue
