For those who don't know us. Migrant Voice is now in its 15th year of operating. We are a migrant led organisation, operating nationally across London, Glasgow and Birmingham, building a community of migrant voices to speak for ourselves, while also running migrant led campaigns on key issues.
When we published our report "No Rest No Security" into Home Office run hotels we found similar issues with the conditions. That was more than two years ago and @ramfel.bsky.social show the situation hasn't improved. People seeking asylum need to be treated better

The extortionate costs of visas, sometimes about ten times the actual processing costs, leave families ripped apart. While feeling waivers exist, they can be far too hard to access for many. We need a system which treats migrants with respect, not as magic money trees.

The UK has some of the highest visa costs in the world, particularly compared to other "science nations" as the Royal Society data shows. This is not only costing migrants thousands of pounds just to work in the UK, it also undermines the whole country.
