close up, looking straight down at a small flowerhead with tubular bilabiate flowers; five are visible, forming what is presently the uppermost series of the flowerhead. four are white with yellow throats, while the fifth is pale purple with a darker purple throat. pairs of stamens can be seen within the throat of each flower, too. the inner lip has a single lobe, while the outer lip has three lobes, the middle one largest. close up, looking at a frogfruit flowerhead from the side. there is a single series of blooming flowers at the base of the head, the rest of which is a dark purple dome. of the four visible flowers, three are light purple with dark purple in their throats and one is white with yellow in its throat. the flowerhead sits atop a slender green stem growing from the axil of the serrated green leaf in the background. frogfruit growing close to the ground, alongside some sedge. its opposite green leaves have numerous teeth along their margins, and prominent veins running diagonally from a central vein to the crease where each tooth meets those adjacent. two flowerheads rise from the axils of upper leaves. these heads have tiny tubular flowers colored either white with yellow throats or light purple with dark purple throats. each flowerhead has a dark purple dome above the ring of flowers that runs around its sides.
