Interested in science, natural history, preserving biodiversity. Restoring and protecting a 2-acre prairie remnant for 20+ years 😱 ... I have a lot of questions.

I try to read, but tend to fall asleep when I stop moving.

Wisconsin
Hold on … I was trying to avoid politics, but …

Are Republicans going to try to save DJT by suggesting girls over ten years old — just over ten years old — are fair game for creepy old guys to use and abuse for sex?

Also, how could of all people a woman push this narrative?

Harvesting #Carrots:

Immediately remove leafy tops. Reduces water loss that will quickly leave you with rubbery roots.

Just hose off dirt after harvest. Do not scrub prior to refrigeration. Scrubbing damages cuticle holding in water.

Use damaged roots ASAP.

Thoroughly wash shortly before eating.

And … more #carrots … about 25 pounds of Napoli. Our favorite staple variety.

Fortunately, returning to work soon. Undergrads waiting for surplus. I do not have refrigerator space for this. And it is too easy to grow too many carrots. Also too easy to grow too few.

International collaboration, publicly funded scientific research, protects lives, reduces business costs, helps maintain reliable supply chains.

Who would even consider destroying the programs and institutions required for this? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It all would have been much easier if, as would have happened if we were remotely a serious country, it all ended with the Access Hollywood interview.

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

I honestly don’t know what to say anymore. It is overwhelmingly clear at this point that the Republican Party has sold its soul to protect a child rapist, led by wealthy ghouls who will never have enough.

There is only one war, now and forever, and it is the class war. There must be consequences.

Culinary suggestions welcome.

Okay. I don’t want live as a hunter/gatherer. But technologically advanced society with a hunter/gather ethic where no one accumulates obscene wealth, and the community protects the vulnerable would be nice.

I feel there’s a home and job for everyone if jerks don’t stand in the way. Even the jerks.

Hey, Historians.

Are there examples of stretches of decades where curious informed people led a community or nation to a sustainable peaceful more prosperous life for all?

Or is that an absurd goal?

Beyond the inevitable failure of tariffs and trade wars, which just drive up costs for people without providing better jobs …

The immediate annoying part is lack of transparency. If the invisible hand is going to guide the economy, folks really NEED to see the total cost at time of purchase.
