Wow the bike lane on Airport Way is completely obstructed with zero signage indicating so anywhere. I got kettled in and had to walk against traffic for a ways to get around. @seattledot.bsky.social is definitely negligent here if someone gets hurt.

I would honestly love for @spottnik.bsky.social to come back and lead SDOT, but with a mayor like @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social who would, I believe, support transformational work instead of allowing this to happen.

Well, he’s right about one thing.

It’s the time for action.

Let’s elect @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social so we can build many MORE bus lanes, not remove the ones we already have!

Come to the rally at 3:30 at El Centro De La Raza today (10/4)!

This is YOUR city!

Another issue with the 12th and Union bus lane removal: People will absolutely turn right to 12th (more) with this change. Now it is very clear - No Turning, but with the turn onto union the traffic flow will be even MORE confusing for the people who couldn't figure out the current configuration. ☠️

Still waiting for that justification
@seattledot.bsky.social, your own values state that you will:

1. Prioritize safety ..., with no serious injury or fatal crashes
2. Co-create with community
3. Respond to climate change
4. Reimagine streets as places to linger and play

Justify the lack outreach and personal vehicle access here?
Hearing from sources that the union st busway will soon be reorganized into the union st carway.

Now it will be much easier to drive to central Capitol Hill!

I was just as shocked with the news about the route 2 bus only lane as you. We are working on it. We need to prioritize pedestrian safety and not go backwards on our transit investments.

@seattledot.bsky.social, what was the reason this change was made?
Well this isn’t as nice anymore :(

@seattledot.bsky.social should treat this as an opportunity to make it right by the climate and the citizens of Seattle, but they're poised to double down on the catastrophic status quo.
'SDOT staff are envisioning the future of Aurora Avenue N to look nearly exactly the same as it has for the last 100 years: a dangerous, high speed, six- to seven-lane highway'

i have a solution for that!
“Aurora Avenue N is a textbook example of environmental injustice: dense housing, elderly residents, unhoused individuals, underserved communities, and schools located along a high-speed, high-volume roadway with no buffer or mitigation.”

Let’s create 100% pedestrian links to a bunch of other places.
Creating a 100% pedestrian link between the waterfront and Pike Place Market was the best thing Seattle has done this century.

Seattle needs a streetcar, splitting off from the existing Broadway streetcar, which goes northeast on Madison, turning north on 15th and finally looping back around to the broadway streetcar via John.

You were not meant to learn whatever the fuck setbacks or floorplates are

You are ONLY supposed to show up & say “make housing bigger & more abundant”, “make transit faster & more frequent”, & if they give you plannerspeak excuses your job is not to nod & understand because that’s how they get you
A bad process built with your tax dollars require neither your respect nor good faith

You are only one thing: a VOTER, not a hobbyist urban planner. The trap that The Good advocates keep falling into is they learn planning jargon in good faith in hopes that will drive change

It never does
The most critical thing I can point out is this: malicious compliance!

If a system or process is fundamentally broken, NIMBYs engage with it through a form of malicious compliance. Do-gooder YIMBYs engage with it earnestly & in good faith

But, results stack in favour of malicious compliance 🤷🏾‍♂️

The SeaTac transportation game is terrible. Everyone waiting on a ride "share" should be getting in trains. There's like two light rail cars of people waiting there at any given time during busy periods. What a wasted opportunity.

Seattle, when?
The Netherlands boasts over 35,000 km of separated cycle paths, half of which have been built since 1996. This (fairly recent) success is built on design principles which are embedded in urban planning and together form a deliberate, systematic approach to infrastructure design: youtu.be/pdsUjjncUp0

“The urban environment communicates a message to the user: are you only tolerated? Or are you invited?

Creating an inviting environment for pedestrians and cyclists provokes the kind of behaviour we are looking for. A place where they feel welcome, and the most important user of the public space.”
