BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO: ECTION 1. Chapter 4-4 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting a new section 4-4-075 as follows: 4-4-075 Licensees with public access - surveillance cameras required. (a) For purposes of this section, "department or office" means the Department, the Chicago Police Department, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications or the Office of Public Safety Administration. (b) Each licensee whose licensed premises is open to the general public shall install and maintain functioning surveillance cameras positioned so as to record: (1) all entrance and egress doorways to the premises used by the general public, and for each doorway that opens onto the public way, an area extending 15 feet in radius from the exterior of such doorway, which shall be lighted in such a manner to identify persons entering or exiting the premises; and (2) all parking areas of the licensed premises accessible to the public. (c) Each licensee shall maintain recordings from the surveillance cameras required under this section for not less than seven days. Provided, however, each licensee shall maintain any recordings from the surveillance cameras that are subject to a subpoena order from the department or office pursuant to subsection (d) of this section until compliance with such order or until a final determination is made on an objection to such order.
