If you can’t be arsed to put the necessary work into your own book, why should I put the work into reviewing it?
If a putative author can't bother to re-read their own work to remove a ChatGPT prompt...why should I as a reviewer (or just plain reader!) ever bother to read it?
Yes, the usage of ChatGPT is bullshit. But one of the things it indicates is a real disrespect for your own work: enough so that you can’t even pick up the book and read it again to make sure you didn’t leave prompts in it.

So that now makes Lena McDonald, KC Crowne and Rania Faris leaving ChatGPT prompts in their ‘books’.

I’m so fucking tired, guys. If you don’t write, you’re not a writer. It’s that simple. Stop doing this to your readers, who PAY.

Readers and authors deserve better than this. 📚💙

The thing about this is that Amazon is widening their own cut of each book, while narrowing author royalties. It's not about "paper costs" or anything, it's sheer greed.

I recommend getting out of KDP, both ebook and paper, as fast as you can. It's what I'm doing.
If you publish on KDP, know that as of June 10, Amazon is reducing royalty rates on print books selling for under $10 (from 60% to 50%), while also slightly reducing printing costs for some paperback formats kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/t...

Like it's fine but I was born into the final moments of an old world that's now unimaginable to those born later and I was raised during the dawn of a new age that baffles and alarms those who came of age before it emerged. 's weird

Fred Rogers does seem to have been a genuinely decent human being and also he would probably be the first to tell you not to idolize him, but to find in yourself what is beautiful and special and hold that up to the light so that you can see it clearly, and can everyone else.
Is it okay if I still idolize Mister Rogers?

10/10 recommend deleting Facebook and Instagram from your phone and replacing them with the Libby app. Then download the genre of books you find most addictive. I'm currently tearing through Lauren Groff's "The Vaster Wilds."

Written before the election. I have found that immersive reading is saving my mind right now. That means without my phone nearby to doom scroll, btw. Immersive reading does not work with constant distraction.

Cults and mind viruses run rampant. Powerful algorithms hijack our minds. No wonder we all feel so deranged.
They say my novels are surreal. But when I watch Elon Musk playing the jester in Donald Trump’s court, I’m not so sure. His latest novel is “Absolution.”

A reminder that this live stream of a waterhole in Namibia exists. It is weirdly well maintained, constantly features a pretty huge range of animals and you learn individual creatures / family units pretty quickly. Very relaxing

Your most annoying neighbor might be trying to Karen up the school board so she can scream at queer kids and threaten teachers and your single vote could literally ruin her year and make her cry.
Your state is too one sided for your vote to make a difference for president?
Someone's running for your library board to block all books with gay characters. Or running for the school board to set official prayers. Or for the election board to pick whose votes get counted.
Local matters.
Vote.

Impeaching Alito for this will be just like busting Capone for tax evasion and we should 100% do it.
The Constitution makes ONE simple demand of officeholders. Like instructing Adam & Eve to lay off the fruit, the Framers said, "you may want a fancy European title but the nation's integrity demands you refuse." Alito just ignored the Constitution's command.

If you're in Ohio, read this before heading to vote:

The ballot language on redistricting was written with an eye to confusing ppl. I talked to someone who says it tricked them. Others have come forward to say same too. Make sure you know what you want. boltsmag.org/ohio-issue-1...
Anti-Gerrymandering Groups Warn That Ohio’s Ballot Language Is Misleading Voters
If “yes” on Issue 1 wins, it’d create an independent redistricting process. But some voters are saying the GOP-crafted ballot summary tricked them into opposing a reform they support.

Save this image (and/or its Alt text) to your mobile device. If you experience or see intimidation, harassment, or suppression of voters at a polling site, call the number for your state, or the national number. If you are turned away at the polls, ask to vote by provisional ballot per federal law.

This is the funniest thing for a Supreme Court justice to get impeached for, and so absolutely perfect for Samuel Alito. Say what you will about his opinions, but he has always been likely to go down for accepting a bejeweled scepter from the most racist living member of the Bourbon dynasty.
