The Carney Liberals picked up the slightly-left-of-center flag and re-planted it on the center right. They've cemented themselves as being, essentially, just old-school 1990s Joe Clark PC Party Tories, before the Reform Party hard-right wing took the reins

"Bury him face down." This barn burner of an obit might feel hyperbolic to people who entered the world in the wake of 9/11; it's not. Cheney was one of the architects of today's American Christian conservatism. He was directly responsible for millions of deaths. Salt the earth where he's buried.

Another great piece by my friend Ben Parfitt, who rightly argues that the fracking companies should be made to pay for the water pipeline their industry has necessitated.

So mad I had to check the Indigenous percentage of Canada's population

It's 5%

5%, from an already impoverished and systemically disenfranchised people, are expected to bear the burden of 1/5 of the total cuts
Carneys cuts might seem neutral, but they will have disproportionate and unlawful impacts on First Nations peoples, in violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Canadian Human Rights Act. They are morally indefensible in a country that professes a commitment to reconciliation.
You failed to mention that Indigenous people are shouldering 20% of your austerity budget cuts.

This is #apartheid in Canada.

My optimism here is limited, but I really hope centrist institutions like universities and major news organizations understand that the plan is for the govt to dismantle them. They do not care if you fire your columnists or discipline staff for accurately quoting Kirk. They just want us all gone.
In a Hitleresque speech, JD Vance says there can be no unity with the left and vows to use the government to dismantle non-profit NGOs and liberal civil society who he says promote violence and terrorism.
