That means that jurors were, very unexpectedly and not by any choice of their own (indeed, under penalty of law, they were *compelled* to be there), suddenly subject to the glare of the mass media picking apart and reporting many personal identifying details of their lives.

I'm reading this and remembering ministers defending Boris Johnson's lawbreaking with "but lots of people broke the rules during COVID" and by pointing out how hard it must have been for him to be PM during a pandemic. Whereas poor carers had it easy, right?
