Just to crystallize this further:

These people were coerced into being in that room; when they realized who the defendant was, they had no way of opting out; they're private citizens, not public figures, and yet couldn't opt out of mass media coverage.

This is unethical.
That means that jurors were, very unexpectedly and not by any choice of their own (indeed, under penalty of law, they were *compelled* to be there), suddenly subject to the glare of the mass media picking apart and reporting many personal identifying details of their lives.
