This is one of those subtle ways systemic racism shows up y’all. It sounds innocuous right? Gotta be clean shaven in the military so if you can’t do that well you gotta go. But this isn’t innocuous. Because Black men are the largest group of military members that get what’s called a shaving profile.
I may or may not have already posted this but in case I didn’t and you need another example of how Kegsbreth is a flaming racist asshole, here ya go. This is absolutely disproportionately affect black male service members. Tell me about this “fighting force” you’re gonna have, Petey…
Troops with medical shaving waivers to face separation, Hegseth says
Under the new guidelines, troops granted a medical waiver must receive treatment and see the medical condition resolved within a year or face separation.

This is all on Russ Vought at Office of Management and Budget for his insane crusade against federal agencies and universities and on Jay Bhattacharya at NIH for acquiescing to all this. It's red and blue states. It's going to hurt local economies and our nation's health. There is no good here.

Nothing says "we're the party of small government that's trying to stamp out government waste" like having US Attorneys investigate the editorial practices of academic journals read by a few thousand people.
The Trump regime is now using US Attorneys to intimidate academic journals by sending them letters demanding they explain how they ensure ‘viewpoint diversity.’ Journal editors should be public about this and coordinate to refuse to comply with these fascist tactics.

Remember that faculty already have to share reports of their research to university management for routine performance evaluations. This is about something else.
Florida officials are demanding that universities send lists of all research that faculty/staff have published or publicly shared in the last 6 years, even if it wasn't publicly funded.

It's not clear what they'll do with the lists, but my bet is on nothing good.
