With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.
Vice-President JD Vance confirms he has joined BlueSky.

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

Really like @albertatech.bsky.social’s humor videos, but this latest serious one explaining what we *don’t* know about how LLMs at a tech level is a great example of what can help enable better AI criticism. (For example, LLMs are *not* “just better autocomplete”.) youtu.be/nMwiQE8Nsjc

as profound a meditation on attention as anything I've read
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

Ha! That's literally where I am right now. 2000 words due next week... and I haven't started. I mean, I have ideas of a plan for an outline of a draft.
Two stages of writing:

1) This shouldn't take too long
2) Oh no

Broke my rule by putting up the Christmas tree today (before Thanksgiving) and the universe punished me by making none of the twinkle lights work.

I replaced bulbs. Fuses. Untangled things. Jumped on one foot and sang a song. No dice.

Let this be a warning if you were considering early 🎄cheer.

Today is my third annual improv training for Harvard business school professors!

When I started teaching case method five years ago I realized it wasn’t like public speaking or even conducting an orchestra but rather like doing improv comedy.

Close listening, staying in the moment, “yes, and…”

Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

I made two apple pies for our 2016 election party to be eaten when they called it for Hilary.

After everyone staggered out, drunk and in tears, I took the pies to my super and I haven’t eaten apple pie since.

In 2020 I took a double dose of NyQuil and went to bed early. A much better choice.
listen I know nothing about basically anything, but one of the few pieces of categorically iron-clad advice I can offer from my own terrible past choices is: do not do this, do not under any circumstances do this, do not throw an election night party, please just trust me
