i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

it is wild that Labour is doing exactly what the reactionary centrists recommend and is absolutely destroying its base of support as a result, and yet reactionary centrists in the US are just utterly silent about the complete failure of their program.

The powers that be in US media decided a while ago democracy and rule of law are boring. A reality TV / prestige antihero show about a personalist dictatorship is more exciting.

So instead of “President Interferes, Violating Constitutional Principle,” it’s “Will Voters Stupidly Make Him Hit Them?”
Crazy how much some media has normalized the idea that voters are taking a risk if they elect governors/mayors who will defy Trump. That he’ll threaten their funding, etc.

Try to imagine, say. Greg Abbott being asked if he’s worried that Biden will punish Texas over his lawsuits.

The US Administration is now deleting its internal communications, in brazen violation of the Federal Records Act, in order to conceal its other illegal acts.

Those entrusted to enforce our Congress’s laws sit, simply watching this happen, flaccid and impotent.

It's infuriating that the entire political universe understands why this is happening - Donald Trump and Stephen Miller are gutter bigots whose nativist politics are rooted in their all-consuming hatred of nonwhite foreigners - but for some reason we can't say it out loud.
Wow. Had not realized that Columbia’s settlement with Trump admin included a commitment to decrease international student enrollment. In what way does this help “combat antisemitism,” which is supposedly the administration’s objective?

The authoritarians have agency. Stop acting like these are acts of God. There is no "fight" between Columbia/Harvard and Trump. Trump is attacking Columbia/Harvard.

(Also, the idea that the procedural violations are equivalent is absurd.)
A master class in passive voice and false equivalence from AEI's Rick Hess. The consequences "were going to follow", like the laws of physics, and not a decision that his fellow travelers made and are responsible for.

there’s something that really rankles about all of these utterly unqualified dipshits who got their jobs because trump liked how they looked on television spending all their time on television telling other people to get a job
