I want to use my UX chops to sincerely help people. I'd love to work with a non-profit or government agency to improve accessibility, communication, or any system that the general public interacts with. There's so much I see that needs to be fixed. I wish I knew how to make that happen.

I don't completely agree that "indie" is a pointless distinction. It's just been co-opted and used way too liberally.
The meaning has evolved in good ways as well: it used to be considered its own genre, and that doesn't really fly anymore. So we're learning.
