Thing I find annoying about LA is all the restaurants that are trying to be really good are all targeting a specific demographic and so you end up with $200 entrees and you basically can’t ever go. Meanwhile in Atlanta every corner has amazing food and is just a place you can go to on a weeknight

I find it interesting that it seems most people - when faced with people doing things they don’t like - easily jump to malice as an explanation. Most people need to work on giving benefit of the doubt

Meanwhile I feel like I might have the opposite problem and need to work on assuming malice more.

I wish I could charge rent on the amount of real estate I take up in the Republican brain.

Had a conversation today that’s just making think about how a lot of people really don’t realize we can just do things - like it doesn’t matter how things have been done or what the norm is. We can just start doing something better if we like it.

Really is insane how impossible it is to access your full medical insurance plan documents. Literally been on the website for half an hour - they do not exist on the page and I think the only way to get them must be a desktop browser on a different site or contacting them.

If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Yes, Peter decided that the continued existence of our democracies isn't compatible with his desired level of personal freedom.

An absolute enemy of humanity.

An interesting thing about animal kingdom is that while there is no utilidor - the park has very large sections at least 1 if not 2 stories above grade - which you can see in the tropical americas construction and in some places like behind Kali. Gives really interesting design opportunities

Seeing this reminded that the Dino institute has a striking resemblance to a garden shed at the Huntington library
Going through my Dinosaur footage, I'm disappointed how little clips I have of The Dino Institute. I wish I had another chance to capture it. 😕

I hear so often “parisians/the french are so rude, pretentious, and snobbish” and I really don’t get it. Nearly everyone I encountered there was sooo nice and kind and welcoming - and it’s not like I’m a good French speaker or anything.

Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.

Honestly didn’t give Lemony Snickett enough credit for his what turns out to be highly realistic portrayal of brain dead adults.

Pretty sure it was the exact opposite?

It would be funny, if it wasn’t so infuriating, that this is the second time people have elected Donald Trump and then almost immediately been like “wait what the fuck we hate this guy”
Trump’s net job approval rating right now is actually lower than it was at this point in his first term

Tbh I think the “obviously you comply with authority and if you don’t anything might happen” attitude heavily comes from a style of parenting where that’s also true - it just becomes accepted that there is no relationship between scale of infraction and scale of punishment
Stage 5 pundit-brain is watching an innocent woman being killed by agents of the state and going, "hmm this says a lot about the urban-rural divide in America."

Also I know this is a cultural difference but I seriously don’t understand how anything but showing up a little early or on time is considered acceptable.
Weird thing about the post zoom times is people look at me like a three headed antelope when I show up to appointments 15 minutes early.

telling the secret police they have immunity to harm & kill citizens really lays bare the hollowness of decades of right-wing GOP screeching about encroaching Big Government - it was never a problem they had with government per se, just that it wasn't being used to harm the people they wanted to

Sometimes I think “maybe I’m just a Luddite unwilling to go along with change just because it’s new” in regards to a lot of the tech industry these days, especially gen AI. And then I remember no actually there’s some things - advances in robotics, 3d printing I find super exciting

I recently have seen so many people obsessed with protein, it’s clearly the new diet trend. Idk who needs to hear this but like if you’re in America you’re most likely already getting way more protein than you need, the average American get like twice their daily value or something like that.
I thought this was a joke but it’s an actual post from the White House: “we are ending the war on protein”

How about ending the war on the health of this country?
