Hello new friends! Have you played Seasonspree yet?

It's a cute little game about cute little animal friends, and you control the flow of time by walking left & right. It's really good, and not very long, because your time is valuable!

A game about nurturing friendships and celebrating the changing of seasons, where you play as Sunny, a cute little tanuki with the ability to control the flow of time just by walking around.

Sure, Rian Johnson's a decent writer, but Benoit Blanc has now had three chances to use the phrase "knifin' around" and he's failed us every time. So I'm starting to think he isn't the genius we all assumed he was.

The Portland light festival is technically happening now, but there isn't much going on during the weekdays. I did get a pretty rad photo tonight using a reflection in a window though. This was using a Lensbaby Sweet 50.

I've never really considered moving from UX Lead to UX Manager, but I think I've got the chops for it. Anyone here have experience making that switch?

As a lead, I typically end up doing a lot of the footwork, which is fine, but I want to have more of a say in the strategy and direction.

Apparently the only Marvis toothpaste you can buy in the States without importing it is sans fluoride. So I'll have to wait to stock up on the good stuff.

So I picked up a tube of Linhart instead, and I'm gonna see if that's worth the price tag.

Just got an email from ZipRecruiter with the subject line "Someone likes you!" and I've never been more sure that they've always wanted to make a dating app but some VC convinced them to pivot to the other demographic of desperate suckers

You're supposed to disclose when your "article" is really an ad, right?

There are many many “unbanked” people in this country due to our vast systemic inequalities. This is bad for them.
A new IRS rule requires taxpayers to provide a bank account number and routing number so their refund can be sent via direct deposit.
Expecting a big tax refund? One missing detail could freeze your money for weeks

And some of the pushback is purely reflexive, COYA behavior
(Might have told this here before)

This design I'd been working on fixed a huge problem, but the coder said it couldn't be done. I walked to his desk and asked him to explain what made it impossible, and in 20 minutes, he'd completely reversed his decision. I didn't say a word the whole time.

My dreams are always so boringly realistic. Last night it was that I was throwing 3A, and as soon as I dinged the yo-yos on each other, I realized I was throwing a mint-condition Terrarian and a Kamuraiju, both red, both models that I have IRL. And I spent the rest of the dream sad about it.

On top of not enjoying typing # to make comments in GDScript, I also really don't like all the underscores I have to type.

So I think I've pinned down the problem: Shift + any key on the number row.

I'd also rather use camelcase for everything, but I'm trying to stick to their conventions for now.

Not really a spoiler but also kind of a spoiler for 1000xRESIST: when everyone goes outside, and when you think about how far into the future it is, all the plastics have finally decomposed, so it's even more about hope than you thought it was

That's funny. I wrote a book that takes place 250 years from now, and for some reason, despite society doing better than ever, the Heritage Foundation no longer exists. Neither does America.

I think I like my plan better.
The Heritage Foundation has released a 250-year roadmap to “save America.”

The document is a how-to guide for subjugating girls & young women: a detailed plan to push them out of college, funnel them into early marriage and motherhood, and then trap them there.

Hooray! Looks like a step in the right direction. I imagine there might be a downside to direct code vs script files (and now that I've typed that, I see the bit about "some limitations"), so I'll probably stick with how I've been taught, but I'm always here if Godot wants to make it even better!
So Godot kinda already has this - you just don't encounter it a lot.
If you have a node and create a new script on that node, you can check "built-in script" and then that script is not a separate file, but just code attached to that one node.

Back in the days of Flash (rip in piracy) you could Alt+double-click nearly anything (or press F9 if you like slowing down) and immediately start writing code, which is directly attached to that thing.

Later on, we'd be told by nerdypants that code should go in the timeline, not inside objects.

Five years ago, I adopted a "Don't Say No" policy with product teams. When a design's rooted in research and gone through usability testing, it's no longer a question of whether it would help or if it makes sense for users. So when engineering says we can't implement it, I rage just a little inside.
Whenever an engineer says "It's not possible" always remember that what they actually mean is "I don't know how to build that" which sounds different, but means the same thing.

If your job application includes essay questions, your rejection email can't be from a no-reply address.

Essays are functionally an interview, so if you force candidates to do extra work just to apply, you don't get to cheap out on the very first stage.

Ten years ago today we shipped Firewatch. I say this every anniversary but it feels both like a lifetime ago and like it was yesterday. Thank you everyone who played it back then or played it today for the first time. Thank you to everyone on the team, I’m still so proud of what we made.
