I understand that there are a lot of people out there who think they have good intentions and love to take their ideological opponents in good faith because it makes them seem fair and reasonable and I truly cannot overstate how dangerous this is to trans people and how much they should stop

a trans girl in vermont was kicked off her swimming team and committed suicide and at the very same time, the discourse in d.c. today is about whether the democratic party should’ve abandoned her sooner in order to win votes

I say this in the most legal way possible:

the law was not written to protect you

it was written to keep you from killing them

for the things they're doing to you

this has always been true

I think one of the things that upsets me the most about all this "oh wow, Republicans are really banking on anti-trans messaging. Let's see if it works," coverage is that the press doesn't give trans people a platform to defend ourselves. We're totally iced out, treated as non-humans.

My heart is absolutely breaking for St Pete. If you've never been, it's a beautiful town with gorgeous beaches nearby and also possibly the gayest city I've ever spent time in. Watching people cackle about chuds eating shit in the storm lets me know who's never been (and who lacks a soul).

I've found it almost impossible to explain to a lot of cis people the outsized role liberal institutions play in transphobia. They just cannot process that these bodies that talk the talk about truth and accuracy would fall down the same conspiracy theory rabbit holes as the right. Doesn't compute.
If we want to talk about privilege, you could do worse than a cis journalist having dozens of trans people giving him examples of the direct harm done by the nyt (and thats just the harms done to trans people) and his response being, well that doesn't feel like it should be true
I do think that. There are some columnists obsessed with it but I don't think an organization publishing stories like this is advocating for the elimination of trans people. www.nytimes.com/2024/07/11/b...

There is not privilege in living a life that is not yours. There's a difference between dealing with the bullshit of daily life, and living as someone who isn't *you*.

Death isn't just biological, it's social, cultural, existential. Being unable to live as yourself is cruel

I'm becoming convinced that liberalism inevitably gives way to fascism. Only the left actually fights fascism. Liberals pretend to and then capitulate at every turn in the name of tolerance. It's like they never learned about the paradox of tolerance.
