Soccer for PGH City Paper, PSN, TheCup.us, et al.

Hyped to have this Riveters/Steel City piece on the cover of the @pghcitypaper.com this week! It's a huge moment for women's soccer and soccer in the city of Pittsburgh. The potential is here to turn this opportunity into something bigger, I hope everyone takes it!
I want to scream it until people understand: The NWSL is MLS. The NWSL is MLS. They are the exact same thing. They do the exact same things.
Increasing expansion fees and artificially holding down player compensation through *scarcity* is not a league, it’s a pyramid scheme.

All this hand-wringing over the USOC and USL not fully participating is doing a great job distracting from the CBA negotiations failing and sending us into a work stoppage that ensures *none* of the USLC teams participate!
December 3, 2025 at 10:02 PM
Unfortunate reality of making the format work. Increasing number of pro teams makes it hard to make a clean tournament. Still, shame on USL for it, and shame even more on USSF for not enforcing PLS and making everyone compete.

Once they let MLS off the hook, it became impossible to enforce.

Five ballots revealed by @notmrtibbs.com and team, and so far I'd say four should lose their ballots entirely. This is a joke, the entire process is a joke, and clowns like this are a perfect example.
Ballot #5 is from a voter who wishes to remain anonymous. As a refresher, we are unable to report adds or drops, if any, on anonymous ballots.

This is the first ever known David Wright-only ballot. There will not be a unanimous inductee this year.

Positively insane to hand a 31 year old closer who loathes pressure situations and whose very name being called sent despair through his team's fanbase more money per year than 20 other teams spend on their entire bullpens. That's Mets baseball baby!

🔵 Sources: NYCFC will name Todd Dunivant their next CSO.

Dunivant has been GM of Sacramento Republic since 2018. Also club president. He won five MLS Cups during 13-year playing career.

Dunivant inherits a strong NYCFC squad. www.nytimes.com/athletic/685...

Great, but it remains utterly insane that in current times we can't do what every other modern nation can and just have our taxes automatically done and sent to us for confirmation.
My bipartisan IRS MATH Act with Senator Bill Cassidy is now law.

Now, if you mess up your taxes, the IRS has to tell you where you made a mistake and how to fix it.

No more spending a fortune on lawyers or hours to find errors.

That means fewer headaches and more money in your pocket.

For reference, if you have to do this, you shouldn't be in the Hall. Full stop.
We've seen two voters who flipped to yes say that Vizquel called them last year to discuss his candidacy and the off-field issues hindering it. Another (who stayed a no on Vizquel) posted about a lunch with Vizquel where they discussed these issues. In 125 ballots, Vizquel has gained 5 and lost 2.
What is Vizquel gaining votes? What is happening?

As Trump intervenes in the Honduran elections and escalates military action against Venezuela and other neighboring countries on the premise of halting drug trafficking, he pardons narco-dictators that his own government convicted of corruption and facilitating the narcotics trade.

All eyes on the Honduran elections.

Trump endorsed Tito Asfura and will pardon a member of his party, narco-dictator Juan Orlando Hernandez, extradited to the US in 2022 for working w/ El Chapo. JOH was elected in 2017 in an election deemed fraudulent by international observers and even the US DOJ.

Friendly reminder that these are based on ratings, not actual viewership, and that smaller cities tend to dominate these lists because it's easier for a higher percentage of a smaller market to watch a network TV game. In other words, NY, LA, Chicago, etc. are big.
NWSL top local viewership markets for championship game on CBS platforms:

1) Washington, DC
2) Kansas City
3) Portland, OR
4) Tulsa
T5) Baltimore
T5) Buffalo
7) Albuquerque-Santa Fe
T9) New Orleans
T9) Hartford & New Haven
T9) San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose
T9) San Diego
NWSL viewing record:

An average of 1.184 million on CBS/Paramount+ for championship match between Gotham FC and Washington Spirit.

It was a 22 percent increase over 2024.

I'm of two minds here:

1) AI is abhorrent, unethical and should be eradicated from this Earth.

2) The abdication of parental responsibility is also stupid and expecting the world to cater to what you do/don't want your child to see is entitled in the extreme. Fucking be a parent.
This is insane shit. Yesterday when I saw that Open AI response to the suicide was to victim blame, I really thought that would be the lowest shit. But here, Google acknowledges AI is bad for kids but FUCK IT deal with it, parents. Trash company. They don't need to do this shit.

Three public ballots and three voters who should have their ballots stripped for the absolute jokes they submitted. Voters in (really not) rare shitty form already this year.
Ballot #3 is from Lynn Henning. He checks his two holdovers, with no adds or first-timers. His column: www.detroitnews.com/story/sports...

No football lines when your playoffs are in May, just saying 🤷‍♂️
Compared to what we've had in the past here at Snapdragon, this isn't the worst, but we'll still have some college football lines here for SDFC v Minnesota

Again, Pettite but no A-Rod should lose you a ballot.
Ballot #2 is from William Ladson, a first-time voter. Beltrán, Jones, and Pettitte improve to 2/2 in the early going, while Félix and Buehrle grab their first vote each

Jorge Morejón should lose his fucking ballot.
Ballot #1 in the 2026 Hall of Fame voting cycle is from Jorge Morejón. Andruw Jones receives the first net gained vote of the cycle. Jones finished last year 8.8% shy of election. Morejón's column: www.martinoticias.com/a/opini%C3%B...

Great apology from Ja'Maar Chase if you ignore the fact that he did it and then bold-faced lied about it on camera and only apologized after getting caught and suspended. Clown.

For reference, a lockout during a World Cup year would absolutely kill USL's long-term future. Forget pro/rel and D1, the league will ultimately die if it is willing to treat its players this way.

This post by the USLPA needs to be seen and read.

The league withheld the materials from the USL Championship trophy celebration in retaliation for the players walking out in their USLPA shirts along with cutting out broadcast angles with that message.
