I’d better announce that I too am entering the transfer portal — with a Do Not Contact designation.

My last 3.5 years working at the Allegheny Regional Asset District have been… well, RAD! I’ve loved the work, but I’m even more excited for what’s next in 2026.

More to come.
This time next week (ok, not this SPECIFIC time, relax) we’ll have Olympic curling on Peacock to watch. Good stuff.

America is blessed with a world class megacity that has a perfect year-round climate and is mostly in a flat basin. And this is the best we can do for bicycles.
This is exactly the problem with 99% of bike infrastructure implementation in the US.

It is done opportunistically or paired with repaving on a piece-by-piece basis, rather than implemented *as a network first*.

This is how you get a bike network in Los Angeles like this.

U.S. Olympic medalist Jordan Thompson on her protest experience: “It felt like something out of a war zone. It was just so, honestly, unbelievable to be a part of. But I think the sad thing is that it’s becoming a really common experience for a lot of people in Minneapolis.”

$2m in state funding for demolition to build a parking lot. A colossal waste
This news from Pittsburgh represents a colossal failure by local historic preservationists, neighborhood groups, and city government. A multi-building commercial development proposed in 2019 has now become a 148-space surface parking lot. In the reply, there's a video about the properties history.

this is the part in the political story where the cornerback just committed a very stupid taunting penalty and you need to throw over the top of that cornerback for a touchdown

Such a waste. The Post was hiring so aggressively for five or ten years that they had one of the very best stables of journalists in the country. Now hollowed out and about to get slashed completely

John ‘The Bare Minimum’ Fetterman
Fetterman finally issues a statement. He says he now doesn’t want to vote for the minibus if it includes DHS funding, but will never vote for a shutdown if it isn’t taken out and will be a voice of reason on everything.

Just one match for Pitt at the big AVCA event in Milwaukee, but it’s a good one.
#Pitt volleyball will face off against Kentucky at the AVCA First Serve at the FiServ Forum in Milwaukee on Aug. 23 in their season opener

The Panthers and Wildcats make it four straight seasons facing each other, with the Panthers winning four matchups and dropping just one set
