Statement from the NWSLPA. The union is definitely not on board with the new High Impact Player Rule. #NWSL

If you’d like to know what it was really like inside CECOT for an innocent man who was wrongfully deported by this administration, we interviewed a pro soccer player and youth coach named Jerce Reyes two weeks ago: youtu.be/vlz3eGwHZBY?...

Didn’t know Rita Moreno was an Arsenal supporter, but this picture of her having dinner with Arsene Wenger leads to some questions. Does Rita Moreno also believe that a 48-team World Cup is better? As an activist & voice for the people, what does she think about the price of World Cup tickets? Etc.
Does anyone wanna see a really good Getty image of Rita Moreno and Sam The Eagle having dinner in 1979?

Christmas Eve is typically a light day for sports but this year there’s an AFCON quadrupleheader. Couldn’t think of a better present than some good old-fashioned chaos.

They said they wouldn’t sell it to former Celtics minority owner to move to Boston, because he didn’t appropriately wait in the expansion ($$$) line sweepstakes and also wont move let them move to Hartford to better their fortunes. Banner week for the women’s sports billionaire owners class.

Earlier this year, @msjpauly.bsky.social and I spent tens of hours speaking to trans kids and their families about their lives under Trump 2.0. Now is not a bad time to re-read it.

Coverage of the latest news coming from colleagues at Mother Jones later today.

How families are fighting to survive Trump's war on transgender kids

Now more than ever…it’s critical that all of us stand up and unequivocally support, advocate for and hold space for the transgender community. YOU BELONG! Transgender rights are human rights! Protect trans kids! And never forget, the first Pride was a riot. 🏳️‍⚧️

It doesn't feel like much of a palliative but if you have a trans kid in your life make sure they know they're loved and wanted exactly as they are

And remember, the right is obsessed with trans people because they represent human freedom, the capacity for all people to be whatever they want

Let's be clear: this is an attempt to erase trans people from existence. The policy itself is going to kill kids, and it's not many steps from this to things like banning gender affirming care for adults, designating transness itself a mental illness, etc etc.
Under the proposed rule issued by the Trump Administration today, any Medicare- or Medicaid-participating hospital would be barred from providing gender-affirming care to *any child*, even if the care is not paid for by Medicare or Medicaid.

Flying home from Rio in 2014 I was in the greatest mood. Kept telling myself how great it will be to have that experience again. In some ways I'm glad I was not thinking about the corruption that would follow so as not to damper my mood then.
Now I can't even enjoy the experience in my own country.
The fanfest on Copacabana in Rio was a top tier experience in 2014. It was the global gathering, Brazilians 🇧🇷 and Argentinians 🇦🇷 and others from every corner of the globe partying together, celebrating OUR game. 2018, 2022 & 2026 are not celebrations of our game, it’s now just a capitalistic farce.
FIFA World Cup fan fests have always been free, but not for 2026. Yet another way this World Cup is set up to exploit football fans.

Nike football ads in the 90s were 🔥. This has that same aura. 1 minute and 15 seconds of advertising perfection.

I sure do wish sports parents considered the downstream effects of expressing their frustration in loud and angry ways
The high school athletic association in Virginia is BEGGING people to be officials for all sports, and it's actually really good money, especially if you do more than one sport. But no one wants to do it, and I don't blame them one bit. I wouldn't want to have to sprint out of gyms after every game.

YUP. If there's any one thing that's true across sports -- all of them! -- is that there is a major officiating shortage, and a complete lack of accountability from coaches, players and fans on how their treatment of officials has helped create this shortage.
every fan in every sport seems to believe the league they watch most closely has uniquely bad referees who are worse than they were at some unspecified point in the past

Lucy Bronze with the last defender sliding tackle on one end and then scores moments later on a corner with her head.

Stanway’s penalty saved and it’s one of those that you have to appreciate that the goalkeeper came up with because what the hell was the defender going to do when there’s a backheel from 1 yard in front of her. Disagree with the ref/VAR on the decision to award a pen there.

Just dropped: individual award list being shit example 8582683175.

And undeniably racist.

It would be better not to have these lists and awards than to do them they way they’re currently done.
And furthermore, these individual award lists are usually, if not always, shit.
