Like the House of Representatives, I condemn the horrors of socialism. Unlike them, I have the nuance to celebrate the benefits of socialism at the same time. And honestly, compared to capitalism, socialism's benefits-to-horrors ratio is excellent.

Healthcare, childcare, care for elders and disabled people. Guaranteed jobs, incomes, homes. Mass transit. Green energy.

We were taught we can't afford to provide these to everyone. But somehow we've known that's false.

Let us now unlearn the old neoliberal ways by learning how to provide for all.
"If money is the ongoing process of issuing and deleting credits, it cannot be solely understood as an inert quantity that reflects past accomplishments. Money cannot be something we need to hoard to create a livable future. And it certainly cannot be scarce unless we make it so."
Democratic Public Finance: A Radical Vision for Mamdani’s New York City
Summary This document elaborates an emerging economic paradigm that is already latent in Zohran Mamdani’s plans and practices. The paradigm, which we call Democratic Public Finance (DPF), reframes …

Hear me out: What if it's both the hoarding and the havoc?
“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”

For the first time in history, DSA has 80,000 members in good standing! Tens of thousands of new members have joined the last year alone. In the face of rising fascism, a US-backed genocide, and an escalating climate crisis, socialism is the only path forward. 1/3

This week, the Global Sumud Flotilla tried to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza.

Instead, 461 people—including New Yorkers—have been detained by the Israeli military.

They must be freed at once. And the deliberate starvation of Palestinians must end now.

If the socialists are the only one you see fighting for you, you’re going to go with the socialists.

I’ve heard stories from friends of institutions’ endorsement discussions around Mamdani where the anti-communist inclination was totally overcome by people’s sense that he had their backs.
Among Democrats - "Which of the following political figures would you prefer?"

🔴 AOC, Sanders, Mamdani: 53%
⚫️ Schumer, Jeffries, Pelosi: 33%

⚪️ Unsure: 14%

“I no longer have the strength to work for the media. My body is thin and I can’t work anymore.” The last journalists remaining in Gaza are near death from forced starvation. There is enough food at the border to feed the entire population for 3 months. This is genocide.
A horrifying statement published today by the Editorial Committee of the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency.

"Without immediate intervention, the last reporters in Gaza will die"
