“Baby in her placenta” is pretty bad for a HHS secretary but it’s arguably worse for a guy with six kids. It’s impossible to not learn this stuff as a dad if you’re even remotely paying attention just once.

This. This shit is what people need to hear right now. Thank you for talking about it.
"99.97 percent of families, even when given the option, chose to let their children learn about LGBTQ+ people."
Nice result, and it reinforces everything Montgomery County said to SCOTUS before its theocrats made their dehumanizing ruling. open.substack.com/pub/erininth...
Only 0.03% Opt Out Of LGBTQ+ Education In Maryland After SCOTUS Gives Them A Right To
After SCOTUS gave families a right to opt out of LGBTQ+ education, Montgomery County, Maryland is reporting only 43 families took them up on it.

I knew Fox News was theater. I just didn't realize it was a repertory theater that recycles actors for different roles.

You'd think a company that had to pay $787,000,000 for deceiving its viewers would be a little more careful about blatantly continuing the practice.

We had to write an in-class essay in English Literature.

I asked for approval of my own thesis: comparing McMurphy from One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Best to Hamlet.

Wrote it in class, long hand.

A+
I wrote my take-home final for Law of War at 4 a.m., still half-drunk. It was due at 9 a.m. I got a B, which was my school's equivalent of taking you behind the barn and shooting you. It dropped my honors one level. My father was perturbed.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

Paul Robeson had his passport revoked and was blacklisted for his political activism.

Was recently learning about artists who rallied to support him financially so he could feed his family.

Can’t wait to see how the history books frame this: ICE in Chicago, raiding a city and then complaining that private businesses won’t let them use the bathroom. You can’t call it an invasion and expect restroom privileges.

In what deluded world did you expect a welcome mat?

TERRORISM EXPERT HERE:

This statement is a clear example of what is known as “State Terrorism”: When the dictatorship will order all instruments of its state security & intelligence apparatus against its own citizens to terrorize the population.

Brilliant
Here’s my idea.
When Trump targets a city and calls it “war ravaged”, “crime ridden”, “people can’t walk the streets”…the protest should be THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE PICNICKING in parks with their families, strolling down the streets with grandma and grandpa, eating ice cream…
"I spoke to the governor, she was very nice," Trump said. "But I said, 'Well wait a minute, am I watching things on television that are different from what's happening? My people tell me different.' They are literally attacking and there are fires all over the place...it looks like terrible."

My mother was a dedicated activist during the red scare. They tried to destroy her. But she kept on fighting for justice.
Fought for civil rights, anti war, any apartheid,
watching people give up because things didn’t change instantly.

ITS A LONG GAME
The road to justice is multi generational.
New in PN: Lessons from a Red Scare

If you want to be an effective activist, it is helpful to study the history of political activism, so you know what is coming your way and you can be prepared for it.

If only we had warned folks before the election that the real plan wasn’t border security…it was mass deportation in the interior, federalizing the National Guard, ripping people out of homes, families, jobs, and schools.

Oh wait…we did.

The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.
