1. Family reunification is ALREADY limited to "close family"

2. Forcing people to avoid claiming benefits they are entitled to and need under threat of being refused citizenship is horrifically cruel. That was the policy under Michael McDowell and it caused great hardship to the most vulnerable.
New: major overhaul of immigration laws to see citizenship denied to those who got welfare, or are in debt. Family reunification only for close family, tighter rules around self sufficiency. Changes to revoke residency for those who commit serious crimes

One of the most interesting things about the highly effective entryism of certain stickies into Irish news media

Is that it was never problematised by those on the political right

And what this implies about those stickies

How AP News whitewashes genocide.

TESTING THE CEASEFIRE??

Israel is *BREAKING* the ceasefire. Do you really think this would be the headline if Hamas killed 24 Israelis?

AP doesn’t even have the integrity to say Israel killed Palestinians. “Are dead” is passive to avoid attributing liability.

I live in (what I think I'm correct in saying is) the most diverse constituency in the whole country - Dublin Central, D1 - *and* I'm old enough to remember what this place was like before significant immigration, and the idea that immigration hasn't been good for this country is fucking laughable

Once again, we are way too relaxed about the fact that "shooting Irish people is good actually" is a mainstream political position on the neighbouring island.

Peadar was vocally behind the "spoil the vote" campaign, but I guess it's mature to be writing "hang traitors" on the ballot and colouring in a handbag.
Incredible that it’s always the parties that you could count their youth vote on your fingers that have this position.

Interesting to see this experiment being abandoned in England

While obviously flawed & arguably quite wasteful it did produce some interesting results in a narrow range of cases

I also think creating direct political connection to police governance is not bad

There are many remarkable things about this intervention from Collins

But the one that stands out is the idea that cycling/walking is purely leisure, and driving never is

While children and adults in rural Ireland are the most inactive and suffering from obesity in the state
Independent Ireland TD Michael Collins claimed "the shit was frightened out of" Transport Infrastructure Ireland today during a committee appearance in relation to CPOs and greenways.

"Remember one thing, Cromwell is gone," the Cork TD told protesters.
