An Cailín Ciúin and Kneecap shortlisted for the Oscars’ Best International Feature Film in 2023 and 2025 respectively. Films that could not be more different but together showcase the range and vitality of an Irish language film sector that is going through a real growth spurt at the moment.
In case any prospective Xmas present buyers are trying to gauge my interest in reading a book edited by English Tory Zionist Iain Dale called “The Taoiseach: A Century of Political Leadership”.

It's upsetting to see a chart like this. A radical overhaul of Ireland's approach to road safety is needed, centred on education, enforcement, and design

Why is it so hard for people like Dan and Andrew to understand that only one of these horrible things is being carried out by a western ally and at the behest of the EU, UK and US specifically.

Not an iota of a boost for those backing the “spoil the vote” movement in the latest polls.

Peadar has flushed whatever credibility he had down the drain over the last while for absolutely nothing.

A photo from 1975 of Derry boxer, Neil McLaughlin. Don't think I've seen anything that looks more like a still from a Coen Brothers' film.

A seismic election result and a real vision now for what change could look like.

A massive day for the Irish left.

I can tell you there is some very happy faces in Sinn Féin today!

Genuinely thought Gavin might have been better than this. Unbelievably insensitive and antagonising.

Fintan O’Toole writes about Fine Gael’s “feckless populism”.

“Humphreys surely knows that her cheap shot at Connolly comes with a very heavy price tag – it destroys Fine Gael’s historic claim to be the party of law and order.”

FG and co need to be at least consistent with their attacks and make up their mind whether Catherine is either a soulless legal professional abetting the state or a left wing subversive who will destroy norms and state apparatus. What attack line will it be tomorrow?

The biggest load of horse manure to be spoken this election is definitely the talk of Heather Humphreys being a credit union manager as if she did it voluntarily. They think it makes her sound like John Hume!

Evan Ferguson’s progress in club football may have stalled and Ireland have been poor but not enough has been made of the 8 goals he has scored for Ireland.

At 20, he has scored more international goals than Isak, Haaland, Lewandowski, Kane and even CR7 had at that age.

Saw nothing last night to be positive about. Parked the bus and relied on top class goalkeeping and a few good performances from defenders like Coleman, O’Brien and Collins to keep it respectable. Created nought. Praise from some quarters today is a tad embarrassing.

Shocked that this could happen to a party that wouldn’t know the difference between a Poke and a Guttie.
The now deleted video from Heather Humphreys’ team including an image of the Reichstag building in Berlin.

Video focused on how Heather knows the border and the North - and was posted days after she said she doesn’t just go on “day trips”.
