The 'welfare cheats’ government campaign temporarily weakened belief in Ireland that social benefits help prevent poverty, according to the State’s think tank.

To be fair, the government made no secret of it being intensely comfortable with economically motivated JRs from developers.

For example the likes of daa plc, cairn and Glenveagh are serial litigants but never once criticised
Leaving aside the broader story very funny to see the government, which has been blaming judicial reviews for every ill in the country, suddenly decide JRs should be supported when they align with what they want

I don't understand why the Rotunda was looking to expand if the plan is to move it to Connolly (or the Mater?).

Was that plan dropped?

Oh I'd say so. Some of the councillors carry on with that McManus "rugby experience" building was like something out of a creche.

Years ago when I worked for Eircom, a woman was using her password hint as a reminder of the names of men she was dating.

Me: Your password hint is "the name of my boyfriend"

Her: "When did I set this?"
Can you think of examples where people use technologies differently from what the developers intended, whether unintentionally or as an act of resistance?

Is Game of Thrones Season 8 responsible for this whole "book accurate" trend? That any adaptation has to be exactly like the book otherwise it's bad.

Especially when the more popular seasons of GoT made lots of changes from the books

It’s really annoying that Democracy for Sale a has hardly been credited anywhere in last 24 hours for breaking story of Labour Together paying to spy on journalists *almost two weeks* ago

Hadn’t expected Tory press office to be the exception!

Both the Irish Times and The Journal running articles about Steen but the headline is about that bag and not her three tier marriage system.

On the topic of "social media making young people transition", you'd wonder what a Simon Harris or Patrick O"Donovan response would be if they were asked if their social media ban for U16s would mean banning LGBT+ youth from talking to each other on social media.

When you’re a UK trans woman, you roll invisible dice every day before work. All sixes, and a coworker with billionaire money will take your employer to court over you, you will be on the news, and when you leave the country, men with abuse allegations against them will call it a victory for women.

If the discourse around her Presidential bid is anything to go by, if you disagree with any of this, you too might be a victim of Groupthink.
Maria Steen, she of the Holy Handbag, argues in the Times that we should introduce a form of marriage with "no possibility of divorce." Maybe she is too young to remember that we already tried this. It ended very badly for some - that's why we introduced divorce.

Everyone knows this is just partners in crime turning on each other, but the average punter would not have a clue, because these frauds will never explain it to them.

I think one of the real challenges in discussing anything to do with trans people is that the media simply cannot accept that the anti-position is entirely eliminationist. There is no way to "exist in public whilst trans" that they will accept, right down to celebrating a doctor quitting.
Susan Smith of For Women Scotland is quoted in this piece saying that Dr Upton leaving the NHS will be "a relief to female patients."

The employment tribunal found that Upton had done nothing wrong! She was completely innocent of any kind of harassment!

Maria Steen was on RTÉ Radio 1, the country’s most listened to radio station, this morning lamenting the lack of conservative voices in our national media.

She then read from an article by Brenda Power, published in the most widely read national newspaper.

Make it make sense!

Seems to be a pattern of these people being portrayed as neutral, despite them being nothing of the sort. Same thing happening in Ireland with that one medical professional (who is suing the State to stop Trans people getting care abroad)
