The New York Times should apologize to the country and just close in shame. For the last 10+ years, everything they printed was two-faced shit. There's great work there — all tainted by shit.
These emails are shittily written and so gross and repulsive as to be near unreadable.
Bring them all down
I just want to mention that this was a New York Times reporter Epstein was talking to, and the NYT has never disclosed these emails or any photos conveyed.

It didn’t go far enough. It never went far enough.
Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Universities are battlegrounds of fascism and it seems as though Indiana University has ceded the field.
Indiana University removed a Lecturer from her "Diversity, Human Rights, and Social Justice" course after a student filed a complaint about a graphic the instructor showed in class, which included "Make America Great Again" as an example of "Covert White Supremacy."

Obvious but worth saying. We really think the White House/DOJ which disappears documents and people pretty regularly is gonna go, "Welp, House voted so I guess we have to turn over the stag films of Trump with a 15 yr old. The rules are the rules." I'm not saying the exercise is pointless at all.

For those who do not do PHP software development: the arrow points to an annotation which ChatGPT said according to prompt is not to be used. It also points to a code segment which is pure nonsense. It's not merely not doing what it should, it's pure nonsense, PHP will abort with a syntax error.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

This is nothing new. The US always reserved the right to arrest visitors when they saw fit for ostensibly breaking US laws while abroad. Sklyarov and Hutchins. Note everyone breaks the CFAA, it's just a question whether they prosecute it.

It's just more blatant now.
I’ve had two conferences—one in the US and one international—change titles of panels or the entire gathering to avoid being targeted or make people’s lives more difficult.

It’s the exact kind of thing the US used to label totalitarian when foreign countries did this to their scholars.
Going to a research conference next week. One of my panels featured researchers coming from Asia, who decided to withdraw given the uncertainty about domestic travel with flight cancelations. Just one more reference point for how the US under Trump has become seen as a basket case country.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

This is a genius idea. Charge $10K an hour to explain the accurate truth to companies: 1) AI systems are elaborate financial scams not tech 2) slop coding systems slow devs down by making them think they're coding faster and 3) leave you with a code base no one understands so nobody can maintain
A free, non-VC funded lifestyle business idea:

AI training / workshops for devs

Massive demand from more traditional companies that have budget for this and are seeing devs not really picking up these tools. They want to invest

Doesn’t exist as far as they are aware

My recommendation for reading James Watson obituaries is to take a shot every time you find an article which mentions the DNA double helix discovery without also mentioning Rosalind Franklin. Maybe being black out drunk will help with coping the amount of systemic misogyny on display.

I will take it. Why Spotify was not ruined when they gave nine figures to Joe Rogan to platform covid anti vaxx which certainly killed more than a few people I can't understand. But: I will take this.
Spotify is crashing HARD because of the boycott. Their stock dropped 11% in value over the last month. Let’s keep this going!

Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists.

We made it easy at boycottspotify.com.
