Not gonna lie...the nostalgia of my youth in a small town is hitting me pretty hard at the moment.
Love this movie for so many reasons. The music is, of course, great, but also the subject matter of portraying life in a small town in late 80s Texas obviously appeals to me.

I filed a FOIA request with the FTC to get user complaints about ChatGPT.

In one case from Utah, a mother reports her son was experiencing a delusional breakdown and ChatGPT told him to stop taking his medication. The AI bot also told him that his parents were dangerous.

I wrote about the excellent King of the Hill reboot, which offers a hopeful version of Texas - where disagreements happen over a beer in the alley, and where you can be set in your ways without using that as an excuse to be an asshole (or electing one). thebarbedwire.com/2025/08/13/k...

It appears that PACER has been compromised by a Russian threat actor for some time. This is a very big deal for people who have submitted sealed documents in federal court whose threat model includes RU.

I'm old enough to remember Quibi.
A new app called MicroCo is the first Hollywood effort to capitalize on micro dramas, an addictive, bite-size entertainment genre that started in China. Shot vertically for viewing on phones, they are soapy, scripted and serialized — video romance novels for the TikTok era.

A new app will focus on super-short TV shows shot for phones, a bit like Quibi, an earlier app aimed at quick content.

In the UK, the water shortage is so bad that the government is urging citizens to help save water by deleting old emails. It really helps lighten the load on water hungry datacenters, you see.

One of the many things I loved about Ozzy was how sentimental and melody-focused he was. Attained metal god status but his heart was always in these ballads like "Changes" and "Goodbye to Romance" etc.

Useful technology isn't something people are forced to use. This was one of the really interesting things I heard maybe a year ago from so many pundits. Things like "I'm trying to think of ways to use this so I become good at it." That's not how productivity tools are supposed to work.
this technology that i cant even get my own employees to use without literally threatening them is definitely going to be profitable one day
